I know you have been at this a longer than I, but the last thing I am going to do is rely on the weight printed on my bills. I have been burned by that once, and attempted burned way too many times.

Personally I don't fret the empty weight of my truck. It changes too often depending on how much fuel is on board and as winter approaches how much ice and snow is on the truck...

You can look up the year of your truck and model on the web and it will give you a weight. Then add your fuel weight. 7.49lbs per gallon at about room temperature.

Weigh the truck to get your tare weight, that way you'll know. With my last job, I asked the other drivers and owner before doing so, and got different answers. I think the $9 or $10 for weighing is lot cheaper than an overweight fine.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to weigh it empty. It was never empty. Some of the items are in storage in the trailer and I cart them back and forth.

On your next trip back when your empty, weight your truck.
you will get your answer. this will give you your empty weight.
next time out when loaded and you weight it you'll have an aprox. on your load weight. this will vary due to how much fuel in your tanks during both weights.
also your registration will tell you what your tractor weighs same with your trailer. these weights will be unladen weights ( empty trlr,no fuel in tractor)
as far as what you listed if you did'nt already know you where ok ( legal)
    steer 12.000 drive 34.000 tandems 34.000 =80.000
this and anything under your good to go
three axle tandems you can go higher than 34 up to 40.000 i think, as long as you dont go over total gross.

fuel (diesel) weighs aprox. 7.2 lbs per gallon
    add weights from registration(tractor, trailer)
    add in fuel weight.
also add in the weight of (if you know) the stored items.
in this sitsuation best your gunna get is an aprox.

    celticwolf Thanks this.
