Was struggling to back in a tight spot in the dark in front of a truck stop repair shop about a month ago. Was probably the worst week I had in my first couple months of trucking and that was right at the end of the worst day I had .
Well anyway this old veteran trucker got out of his truck and helped me back in . Went in repair shop with him and had long conversation with him and 2 other veteran Truckers there. Alot of stories and advice was great. And at the end he gave me this rand McNally trucking GPS that I could never afford with the paychecks I was getting at the time . One hell of a turnaround and helped me stay alot more positive mentally after that.

Same Schneider had no work coming out of jersey so I was layed over for the weekend... got paid 65$ a day. Took the train to nyc was only 20$ round trip. Had no idea that the train station was under the Madison square garden. Went to the top of the empire, walked to the 911 memorial, got a slice of my pizza, took the free ferry 2x to see the Statue of Liberty. At night Schneider’s bulk yard is off the bay looking out into the ocean so I had a nice view for the weekend.Speed_Drums, alds, Smut and 1 other person Thank this.

I did the same except for the Statue of Liberty. I’ll have to go again once this pandemic dies down.Speed_Drums Thanks this.

I did that once, I was waiting for a driver to back in, happened to be a gal, but could have been anyone, clearly a rookie, and they did the same thing everytime they tried. It was painful, and I got out, hopped on the running board, and told the driver what they were doing wrong, and they "got 'er in". I'd like to think I made a difference to someone that day.650cat425 Thanks this.

My wife and I have had some good times on the road. We would usually have to take one reset a week, and often would rent a car for the day and see the sights if we were somewhere interesting. (Enterprise picks you up!)
We went to the Grand Canyon, Mt Rainier, Seattle, DC, Chicago, Rocky Mountain NP...and a bunch of other places in between. We did the NYC several times as well...we would park at the Lombardi travel plaza and walk across to the express bus parking lot. We even managed to be there for the July 4th fireworks, even though it rained.
We have a cushy dedicated air mail route now, where we have 3 day weekends, so that was pretty exciting news when we landed this job too.meechyaboy, D.Tibbitt, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this.
