You enter into a discussion with another person. Will call them person A. This person has an avid, fervent belief in their position.

You, person B, offer a differing position, then back it up with data and facts.

Why does person A get upset/angry when you don’t agree with their position?

You have data and facts to back your position. Even looked them up on the interweb of stuff.

 

Cause they have this "avid, fervent belief in their position" and ain't gonna change. You have entered to discuss, he to argue.
