Since music soothes the savage beast, I thought, how many chart topping #1 songs are their in US, in a entire foreign languages.

    My research shows..
1958: “Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu” by Domenico Modugno

    1963: “Sukiyaki” by Kyu Sakamoto
Which is actually a sad song,

1963: “Dominique” by The Singing Nun

1986: “Rock Me Amadeus” by Falco

1987: “La Bamba” by Los Lobos

1996: “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)” by Los Del Rio

2017: “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, Feat. Justin Bieber

    one version is entirely spanish

2020: “Life Goes On” by BTS

    Ok.
Going to go become a mechanic now, load won’t be ready until tomorrow.

except that from a statistics standpoint that is all wrong.. the average pro golfer is much better now then they were when tiger was in his prime. and that can be calculated with statistics.. and that goes for every generation before tiger and for every sport that exist... tiger would still be great, if he was playing in his prime now, but hardly as dominate as he was in the early 2000's...because the competition is much better now... name your sport and this is all true.. racing is no different...you can really see the disparity of the average talent pool when we look at baseball.. because of the availablility of advanced statistics and saber metrics.. comparing say babe ruth's era to the mike trout/aaron judge era... there is no comparison.. the modern players are better than all the old guys.... statistics are the only thing that matters. numbers dont lie, but the eyes can be fooled.

Have to agree with the rant there Tibs. The mid pack runners now are probably overall better than the front runners of the past. Of course my favorite races were the ones where the drivers have to also turn right.

I'm more gear head than driver fan boi. I liked watching the evolution of the cars. The different regs forced the cars to be more homogenized with very little flavor. Indy did the same thing, was one of the reasons CART split out in the day. I don't bother with the current Indy car stuff. It's just another version of IROC with different cars and less well known celebrities. They are spec racers with sealed sub-assemblies. The crew becomes part swappers and chassis setup, minimal innovation. Unfortunately I see that as the destiny for Nascar.

in my opinion, its simply an outlier though. 1 score or record does not determine greatness, because we need to use a baseline statistic and the only way to do that is to compare the type of competition, they were playing against... so you have to determine what the average talent level was in different era's and compare those to eachother to see how far above average these greats were playing... in every case that i have come across. the modern player will always win... someone will come along and beat tigers record.. someone will come along and beat lebrons records.. and so on and so forth... .

not disagreeing with that at all.. but its more of a reflection of the sport itself and the corporatization of it rather than the actual talent themselves is the point im trying to make... my favorite is IMSA racing and it breeds some incredible racing now a days.. dirt racing is better than its ever been.. to say that a guy like kyle larson is not a better wheelman than any guy before him is ignorant.. that guy wins every race he gets into outside of nascar, in whatever type of car he is running..and he isnt the only one.. chase elliot has become a pretty dang good dirt track racer as well..these guys are true wheelman, who have chosen to make their career in nascar.. but side by side with some of the old legends in their prime, lets just say it would be a #### good race

i think some have a tendency to look at the past with nostalgia because nothing is ever the same, and when i get old im sure ill do the same... ill look back and say i grew up in the greatest era of sports ever... and some young punk kid will tell me that the greatest era is now and he wont be wrong.

The OM is filing papers as we type suing the promoters of whatever you want to call that yesterday, for fraud, for impersonating a nascar race.
