Used to go to a place called the Highway 29 Cafe. Between Vallejo and Napa, CA.
Usually couldn't eat it all. Think it probably changed hands by now though.

Nope, they sure don’t, but your guts will do quite the opposite after consuming that sub.

    Bingo.

There are no small dealers in the area. They have been absorbed by us and our main competitor if they were Hyster/Yale Group. Supposed to be a Crown dealer up further north.

I turn 60 this month, and I'm mentally ready to retire, so no, I have absolutely no interest in striking out on my own as an independent.

I DO appreciate your insights into the business. I find the work interesting, and this is the best shop I've ever worked in from a standpoint of mutual trust and support. And I mean among ourselves......there's four of us in the shop, and we support each other to the max. Management offers zero support. We succeed in spite of them.

I've applied to a couple truck fleet shops, had interviews that went well with the shop manager, but I got the "we've decided to go with someone else" email from corporate. A lot of these hiring managers are still clinging to the fiction that they're gonna find some 20-something kid that wants the job. Then they can mold him into their corporate culture and underpay him for the next 30 years.

Somehow that's better than hiring an old guy who can do the job, and paying him what he's worth for the six or seven years he has left in the workforce.

The guy I interviewed with for the Grey Dawg has sent me a few "How's it going? Remember we already have your application, and we're just a phone call away!"

    Same with the railroad.....so, anyway.

Please forgive my rambling. I'm not supposed to be grouchy on a holiday.

    Moar coffee.......

Fun fact I just found out today:

"Macbeth" is the only one of Shakespeare's plays that contains the word "rhinoceros".....

Always reminds me of the old cartoon photo.
“Look Ma, I’m a Rhinoceros” google it.

It has air bags like on truck suspension, work ok for neck support when dropping trailer for load / unload. Same type air bags push down under trailer to lift up for reattach. At least that's the way the one I saw worked. My problem with that is ,it's ground engaging. Better be on really hard ,level surface. I've had a ground engaging RGN 50 ton trailer, never again.
