The OM is up. There was an emergency empty dish situation.

In 1963 there were 1,000,000 people on a watch list as possible threats to The President.

Roughly 1 out of every 200 Americans.

Yet Oswald, who supposedly defected to Russia, came back and lived in Dallas, was openly a member of multiple leftist organizations, and owned weapons...........was somehow unknown to the CIA and FBI.

    So they claim.

Have you ever seen that movie " The Pursuit of Happiness " with Wil Smith?

    True story.

Dude gets on as an intern at Smith Barney.

The dude that's the President is talking to like 200 of these dude's that are being given a shot at 1 opening.

Dude is like," We are going to hire one of view. And the sole criteria for that is results. Whomever makes the most money. There are some of you that should win easily but you won't. There are intangible things that go with this that cannot be taught. Some might even say some of you are gifted in the right manner."

He shrugs his shoulders and goes," I don't care how you do it. I don't care if you steal it. We're only interested in results. That's the reality of this world."

The problem is that the people who work for the CIA and the FBI are still not on any watch list. Asymmetric information warfare. They know everything about us, we know almost nothing about them. Same goes for all big tech companies these days.

We are now only 10 minutes away from

    MAIN ENGINE START

The OM is pleased, but has returned to kitty bed.

Some DUDE left his paccar product on all night, and I think the engine fan cycling bothered her.

Very inconsiderate, but not uncommon in modern OTR trucking.

I was assuming that was OM sarcasm but it may actually be true that it's personality dependent as to which company is the best fit which I didn't fully consider. I suppose I can always go back. The one thing I do know is that this will expose me to the raw business side of trucking which I'll use as a learning experience if nothing else. I won't give it less than 6 months unless I'm absolutely drowning.

How much freight do you get off of the load board verses just dealing with your agent relationships?

Referring to your movie antecdote, one must know the tangibles before you can even start understanding the intangibles.

What is it you are basing your preconceptions of Landstar off of?

Specifically in regards to booking freight.

That it's impossible to make a living off of the loadboard. That's what I'm hearing around the youtube table. People are saying that if you don't work directly with agents and bypass the loadboard, you're doomed to run cheap. I guess I shouldn't prejudge until I've been there. With these fuel prices and a truck that's getting older, there's enough to worry about that's for sure. And today, I'm going to go pay for a parking space for a month as well. 225 a month for a dirt lot in Chandler.
