I worked at Penn State for 3 summers. They had 4-5 balers and 15-20 wagons going at once. Hay was never ending. We had the beef, sheep, dairy and horse barns to fill. They baled a rough, stemmy alfalfa that tore your arms up. Can’t say it was as fun as helping friends back home.

So we wised up.. Got one of the circular balers. Wrop it tight, cut some long poles and lay them 2.5 feet apart on a rise (drainage), stack that fields baling on the poles (keep the mold down). Feeding is when they waddle over to eat it. Never had a cow bloat on hay, unlike K31 Fescue and Ladino clover.austinmike, JoeyJunk, tramm01 and 6 others Thank this. -
