Getting there.. I drove a new IH V195 with 2 IH R200 hooked on out of Fugate and Girton in Ft Wayne. Pulled in the yard, boss asked: How you like it? Told him fine, nice truck. Then it is yours as soon as 5th wheel and horns are on. One year later from date I drove it out, speedo showed 118,000. All mine except Starkville to Natchez and back. I had come in sick from Grand Forks with a load of seed potatoes.
Sign of the then times. Jimmy came down to the bunkhouse and asked me if it would be OK for "Ned" to take my tractor to go on and unload it. Unheard of today.

 

It was probably the best day to cross Colorado since most of the skiers and snowboarders are either already up in the mountains or at home with family on the flatlands. Light car traffic and very little truck traffic and all the coops were closed. And in the 30 years I've driven in Colorado (only 9 in trucks), this week is always by far the lightest traffic (unless we've been put on emergency lockdown for two weeks to stop the spread.) Good week to take a load to Denver, and I never say that.

I think the blizzard is being oversold by the weather people, but sometimes I go too far the other way from them, so maybe it will be kinda bad. But not apocalyptic bad.

Which reminds me of a question I've had for a long time but never said out loud: Why aren't there big billboards along the highway with 40 foot tall lawyers in suits standing knee deep in snow asking "HAVE YOU BEEN INJURED BY AN INACCURATE FORECAST?"
