When we would get noobs on the line, they tended to get scut work for a bit. When we would take a jet to the wash rack, they would get chock walk. Then someone would open the supply box and start cussing a storm, turn and point to the noob, and say, see that door that says supply on it? Go in there and ask the supply guy for a bucket of prop wash and a can of jet blast, tell him the tail number for the sheet.
They would come back with a 5 gallon bucket and a one gallon can of water.

I'm done. Had a busy day. Had a Republican club meeting this morning. Then mailed junior his birthday card. Then got new book at liberry. The went to Walter. then moms doc appt.

 

As old as the military.

Army it was a box of squelch for the radio and a tent stretcher.

This is one thing I DID actually do though...

After I got off active duty I was working 2 jobs while going to college. One of them was a Burger King manager. One Saturday I sent this really ditzy blonde next door to Pizza Hut for a bucket of steam for the steam table.Took some talking (I told her the manager over there was expecting her) so she finally grabbed the bucket and headed over. We all watched her go in from the drive through window. She was in there about 5 mins. Then the door FLYS open and she comes stomping out. Seconds later the phone rings, it was the manager from Pizza Hut (we had a pretty good relation ship, we used to swap food occasionally) I could hear loud laughing in the background...

Story is, she came in, put the bucket on their counter. One of their servers asked her what she needed and she just pointed at the bucket. So the manager goes over after a few minutes and asks if he can help her, and she says in voice loud enough to be heard throughout the place "Im here for the steam!"

"The steam?"

"Yeah, the steam for the steam table you are supposed to give us".

He couldnt finish the story he was laughing so hard and by then she was back.

Edit: The scary part of this is she was a high school senior. This had to have been 1978 or 79.

News just said 4 to 8 in Chicago land. But but but, My county in Indiana is on the line, which makes little sense. The storm looks 100s of miles wide (north to south) either snow or rain.
