What if it Snows?

Trucking has taught me that u are punished for thinking for yourself and trying to help people out and move things faster ....

Pull up to shipper and check in;

Loader: its gonna be about an hour u got 1 truck in front of you

Me: ok

So i walk out back to my truck and see the other truck thats supposed to be getting unloaded , a hotshot rig with 8 small utility poles on it and about 17 straps....

Me: "Hey bud ill help ya get ur straps off and roll em up so u can get unloaded quicker and i can get loaded quicker"

Hotshot driver: "im not moving my truck without securement on it"

Me: "its like 30ft to the loading bay"

Hotshot: "no"

Me: " ok we can undo all the straps except one, it will speed up the process and still be secured, or drive in the loading bay and ill help ya get em rolled up"

Hotshot: "no, why dont u go back to ur truck, i dont want any help driver"

Me: "ok im trying to help both of us out here"

Hotshot: "i dont care not my problem"

Me: * shaking my head and muttering censored words under my breath while walking back to my truck*

I guess some people just dont want any help? Now were waiting for doofus to get all his straps off and rolled up, in the loading bay so we can get loaded...moron.....

 

He’s going to roll all his straps up, do a pre trip, log book, make phone call, take a dump, check oil, clean windows and mirrors, and get a cold drink, ask for directions, before leaving. Just to p### you off. Lol

 

Lol right ? To me its just crazy how some guys are. If i was in that position, parked onthe street waiting to be unloaded , all my securement would be off and straps rolled up put away , so we drive under the crane get unloaded and scram. Is faster for everybody involved. If somebody offered to help me roll straps there is no situation where i would ever deny that help.

 

He’s on duty too.
Don’t make him do a 30 minute break in the bay.

 

He still has half the straps on his load , and the loaders have currently abandoned post and are at full speed ahead towards the lunch room....

No further information at this time....

 

Some places would make him move, instead of holding everything up, or not unload

I just checked in to get loaded, sign says “Safety Vest Required.”

So I vest up!
Walk over to check in, at a window.
The guy says, “You got to have a mask.”

I said I do, pulled it out of vest pocket.
“Gotta have it on”

Looks like yours is doing great, it’s on your chin.

“Where’s your hard hat.”

Don’t have one in this truck, I’m hauling Rice Hulls.

“Where’s your long sleeve shirt?”

Might be one in the truck, but my chemical suit and rubber boots and oxygen mask are at home.

“Why do you need that?”

I don’t know, I thought of asking you the same thing.
