The temperature has gone up to a tolerable condition. No thanks to Opus.

I was thinking the same yesterday. I remember adding 3 gallons across 250 miles after changing my coolant for the first time. Same with my current Truck, after the inframe. Sat outside the shop, adding 3 gallons, running with cap off, vent open. I was mad, everyone left, it was dark, and in the worst part of Detroit. Good thing I had plenty of extra coolant. It can take 3-4 hrs sometimes idling with the cap off.

$3200 is a great price. I paid $3500 for a 13 spd exchanged, 11 yrs ago. I think a 10 spd was $3000. Paid $800 labor. They left my fill plug out. Didn’t crawl under it because my back was out. Drove 200 miles, saw oil everywhere, it was half empty. One month later, It started leaking real bad. Had trans pulled, and all new bell housing bolts installed. They had left a couple out or loose. Cost $850. Went back and got $800 back from the first shop. I showed him a itemized list, including hotel, car rental, lost revenue, totaling a lot more than $800. Lol. I’m surprised he gave me the $800 back. Live and learn, it can always be worse.

With mine, no amount of idling with the cap of would move the bubble. had to get the rpm up and open the heater return line.

If your comfortable with the repairs. Go for it.
Agreed 3200 for a reman is a reasonable price.
Tho to the mechanics saying something cant be done as the shop will mark up the price?
Sigmound Freud says it best. The faults we see in others are the faults we ourselves have.

They were just dishonest. After I got the truck from them, my truck wouldn't keep prime. An oring in the small fuel filter broke. Took two weeks for me to find. Maybe a coincidence. I refused to go back there. After being jerked around.

My regular mechanic near Wentzville missouri. They are really honest.

The extra time to spend doing it. I think it's cheaper to get a reman. But if I was a farmer sitting around with more than one truck. I would.

77fb77 how is your drive lines? Any vibration?
U-joints angles out of spec will cause radial vibration. When drive line connected to the engine (in gear) the radial springs on the clutch will absorb it. When out of the gear one part of the gears spins smooth with engine RPM the other erratically (1/4 fast, 1/4 slow, 1/4 fast, 1/4 slow) with gearbox rear shaft. Really hard to shift gears.
Don't ask me how many parts had replaced by stupid "mechanics" before I measured angles accurately and found the truck is leaning on the front too much. New front springs did the cure.
