Made it to Sparks. Chains in effect according to NV starting at mm 143ish. Never saw enough powder to need them.

Enlightenment can only be attained by short haul dry van in that region.

Actually you're not in Sparks if you are at your delivery....you are tehnically in McCarren. Sparks is another 6 miles West! NV puts chain law up to get folks to slow down because of ice. You got lucky especially in that section of 80 that is bordered by the alkallai ponds jut north of Fernley. That 4 mile stretch is notorious for becoming an ice nightmare.

Spoke to my son yesterday who works for City of Reno. They are doing 12 on 12 off for the next week keeping the sand/salt trucks running...he said the wet storm that went through yesterday froze up so fast, they couldn't get the salt down quick enough to be effective.
Donner is open right now, the next blast comes in after 1500...being lead by some very excessive winds. Grapevine is closed indefinitely with ice and freezing fog...expecting the same all the way up the central valley. John...get your butt over that hill ASAP when you get MT! This stormis tracking fromthe south...395 and everything east of the Sierras is under severe weather alerts....probably won't even be able to get to Carson City when the winds crest those mountains.

I am heading to Carson city shortly and only seeing winds of 5 to 10 mph hope that holds true. I have been locked down in Reno for couple of days before when these storms hit and I'd rather be home this time. Should be fine because I;m getting in and out fast today.

Waiting to hear from trailer customer. Sounding like he would rather have potentially late delivery than a week early. Got a couple of other loads I'm looking at in that case. "Say no to cheap freight" seems to mean no Landstar brokers lol.

So, yesterday morning I spent two hours on I17 south of Flagstaff running at 25-35 miles per hour, thinking about pulling over and shutting down every time I saw an exit.

The last 60 or so miles to Phoenix were not too bad, but there was snow on the ground in the early afternoon, and even built up on the secondary streets in some places.

This was almost as weird as when I went through Death Valley in the middle of the afternoon a couple years back and it rained hard enough to create deep puddles on the interstate.
