And don't forget to at least take a quick look after you stop for a break. This is what I found after my 30 earlier today.

When I ran OTR I always had a trailer attached to me. Now that Im local and dealing with the ports, Im bobtail periodically. I like to use that time (spend a few minutes) looking into the frame/fifth wheel/axle area. Checking mostly for anything loose or missing.

A lot of this stuff is just ridiculous. Yes, make sure the door is properly mounted and secured to the truck every morning.

But you do! Every morning, when you notice it hasn't fallen off or was carried away during the night, you fulfill that section of the pretrip.

Man, look at you doing stuff and not even knowing it.

    RedRover and tucker Thank this.

I'll guarantee you get a person in the seat, have em hit the brake then hit the flasher not the turn signal and the same lite will burn.

Okay. So, if you hold the brake pedal while having the four ways on, what happens?

Not on any trailer I have ever pulled. The brake lights are one set of lights, the four ways are a different set, but the four ways are the same lights as the turn signals.

Bob Dobalina and JReding Thank this.

I sat in on a CHP presentation last year, according to them statistics show more than 90% of inspection violations should have been caught in a pre-trip inspection.
