I have no idea. First I've heard of it. However, if they are saying that a lease op can't decline freight if he or she is on a specific fleet, I will assume (yeah....don't say it...) they are specialty fleets or dedicated. I'll check into it and try to find out.
fr8monkey Thanks this. -
They are team fleets 757 is hazmat team.

747 is the hauling ### fleet!!! I believe for mentors and teams... That is what I am currently on. You get not one but sometimes six Pre-plans all at the same time.......... Lots of Tcalls and drop and hooks
That's the fleet that will wear me out at some point in time and I just gotta say no more.....
You wanna fly across the country then get on this fleet.....But ya better have a rocket and it helps to have a second driver......fr8monkey, scottied67 and Injun Thank this. -

Communication to drivers about Expedited Team Division
We are excited to announce the formation of the new "Expedited Team Division" at
Swift Transportation. As the economy is starting to recover and the freight environment is getting stronger, we are seeing more and more opportunities with JIT and expedited transit customers. We view this as an opportunity to add more freight in a niche that we have not taken full advantage of in the past, which will ultimately lead to more opportunity for our drivers to make more money. We currently have 670 full teams running at Swift, of which 335 have their Hazmat certification. These teams are running in several different divisions within the company, with the vast majority being in Transcon. Unfortunately, we do not have enough freight running coast to coast anymore to fully utilize these teams and maximize their earnings potential. We do business with
customers such as Fed Ex, UPS, Central Freight, Conway, Schenker, Ford, General
Motors, and Chrysler that tender loads to Swift that require team transit. Some of this
freight is managed today in the 747 division, which is made up of Mentor teams. These customers as well as several others are offering us more team transit freight, some that require Hazmat certified drivers, which we would like to take advantage of. By creating the new expedited team division, we can sell to our strength and book more team freight that is available in the market today, position our teams in markets where we can take full advantage of their ability to generate utilization, and provide more opportunities for our team drivers to increase their paycheck.
As of June 1, we will move all of our teams that are currently in an OTR division,
including Transcon and the 142 mentors that are currently running in division 747, into
the expedited team division. While a mentor is running with a new student who has less than 50 hours of drive time behind the wheel, or are between students, we will run them in the expedited division as a solo. We have several JIT customers who tender loads that are a length of haul that would meet solo transit. While the mentors have a student that has more than 50 hours drive time behind the wheel, and they are comfortable running as a team, we will plan them to operate as a team.
There will be three subdivisions within the expedited team division:
737 - Expedited solo transit (mentor between students or student not yet ready to run as a team)
747 - Non Hazmat certified teams, Mentors running as team
757 - Hazmat certified teams
Benefits of running in the expedited team division:
- More miles resulting in more money
- Planned in advance whenever possible so you know what your next trip is before
delivering your current load
- Prioritized to pull team transit freight
- Consistent customers that are good to work with
- Quick on, quick off freightscottied67, Cochise, fr8monkey and 1 other person Thank this. -
When I went back on my mentor's truck as a team mate, he was calling Swift many times a day reminding them we were supposed to be on 757 but someone over there was dragging their feet. Mentor dude was very upset. He was telling me all the benefits of being on the fleet, like we had the highest priority and therefore could take any load off any driver going any direction if we wanted to even if the driver was going home to see his hurt kid in the hospital, we could force them to give us their load.

That's actually amusing. I can see some jackarse coming up to me, asking my destination and comodity and then demanding I hand over my BOL. Heck, I would pay to see that show. Heh....
