I've found that usually the moment you start thinking you're good, is when you screw up.

Generally what I've found with everything as well. Fortunately I generally learn from my mistakes and only make them once. Mostly.

Back when I first got my CDL, was in a nice 2012 Cascadia. Got sent to HQ to pick up a trailer bound for Austin, TX. I get to the yard, find my trailer, and then spent 45 minutes wondering what in the world happened to my pig tail, and why I had no power to the trailer. I went to find a mechanic, swearing that the trailers hook up must be loose or something. We walk over to my rig and look at the back. He looks at my rig, looks at me, looks back, plugs the ###### thing back into my truck, and walks away laughing. D*** it. I was so upset. Now I remember where that is though.

Hi Mack, Simpson's are my favorite. I thought I was in deep D'OH after that. I thought, what do I do now? Tank was pretty low to begin with, so put 65 gallons of diesel in, never knew the difference. I sure watched the exhaust temp, just in case.

I was bobtailing and reversed one time in high gear. I went shooting backwards and took out a trash can. Ride of my life.

I have an aluminum storage clipboard that I keep my important stuff in, cell phone, bill of lading, etc. As I was about to climb into the truck and leave, another driver came over to ask me a question. We got to talking, and I sat my clipboard down on the catwalk while we shot the breeze. When we were done talking I climbed into the truck and left. 30 miles down the road I pulled into a Loves to fuel up, and there was my clipboard still sitting on the catwalk with everything present. I have no idea how it rode that far without falling off, but there it was.
Nice to know we're all human. After a long day and a half, I put 10 gallons of gas in my truck before I realized it.
In your defense, Sometimes pulling into non Tractor trailer friendly store, Around here we have 4 pumps at some stations, 87,89,93 and diesel. Use this station fuel my POVS.

Crap does happen, Thankfully the diesel nozzle won't fit into gas powered cars. but have done gas into the TT and into my duramax POV. The mind is a interesting thing :biggrin_2559:

Here's a dumb one that I encountered.(dangerous, actually) While I was fixing a truck at a small warehouse for a friend, a dock worker asked me if I could bring a trailer in a dock, and use the truck of the trailer she just finished unloading. The truck was running, the driver took off to get lunch. Sure, I said. It was winter, so I go out to drop the wagon, I look, emergency brake line, light cord,,,,,where's the service brake line? Here the line came off and was DRAGGING ON THE GROUND! I went back in and told the woman and she said the driver did complain about the brakes not working too good.
