They are that way, and I've been that way some. Mostly these days I like to occasionally call people on their BS and leave it at that. I plan to spend more time here - I don't think I'll get the help I need starting on tankers over there, and I get tired of reading the same questions over and over again.

That sounds like good work. Flats are all about securement. I've had some loads that were outrageously difficult to secure because of the way they were loaded (always after hours or weekend preloads -- when the guy with the forklift is there, I'll make him fix it, or better yet never let him mess it up.)

Freighliners with 10 speeds, yes. I can't imagine pulling these tanks with an auto. No control. I'm hoping I'll be more insulated from the automatic craze all the megas seem to be going through. Make driving harder just to save .5% on fuel.

Not sure why pic won't work, but look up UPI in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

These are the guys I "used to " haul for in winter, when asphalt wouldn't move. Never did anything this big; no tridems, no spread/ strech... a few lowboys.... but yeah, a few OS/OD loads on tripods that I picked up LOADED and SECURED. Ha. . . lentils (lennils? Jury's still out on that one, LoL!) Smaller and more downscaled than Jersey barriers, but all the same....kinda. All in all, they were NOT secured correctly, whatsoever. I had a few chains and straps by the grace of God, and when the load 'hopped' as we were pulling in to Cleveland (for some Subway (not the food) project) 2 years ago..... I took everything I / we had (wife and kid were with) and improvised... and she was looking up WLL's.... as fast as she could, to try and help.

Another time, wife was along, again a CLE trip.... and raising on the radio is "Hay Tripod, your brakes are on fire!" Well, it was a Sunday, and a smarter man than me, apparently refused the preload from UPI on Friday... bossman: "hay you wanna make an extra $300?" me... SURE! He gave me the wrong trailer numer AND color... I had to hunt and peck, and obviously didn't pretrip good enough... THEN, had to hang my banner ... an older one, that only said "OVERSIZED" . . . Guess what?!? I proceeded to hang it .... yeah.. upside down. Got pulled over, due to this "small" oversight, and thank God the statie was a nice, older fella, .... and I told him I was paying tribute to Desi Arnaz... it was the anniversary week (dunno how many years...) of I Love Lucy. I got a verbal, and fixed my banner. Seems like all my attempts are / were futile. Kudos to you all who have / can / will / was / were / be / being / been doing that!!!
( You should read some posts by @TripleSix . Man is amazing. )

It's for some, it's not for all. It's not me. I can promise (i hope!) you that I won't implode a tank, I won't burn the clutch brake on the PTO .... etc etc etc... and yeah, I VENT! hahahaha... ps: When the PTO/pump needs replaced, most often, SO DO THE HOSES. My mantra, just saying. It should be a "one stop deal, " but apparently not. There's been recent threads about this, as well!

Ok enough yap. . . . Best wishes man, talk to ya soon! Happy Easter, as well~
