It went pretty good when everyone talked on their CB and when parked, got out and talked to everyone.

So, why doesn't that kinda stuff happen anymore? When I dreamed of trucking, I naturally thought that was a part of it.

I had T-Mobile, good voice, sketchy data. I switched to Verizon, got a tablet so I can work encrypted files (bank, credit cards, so on) on the mobil hotspot, and I get access just about anywhere. It's a data network, there can be occasional problems, sunspots, magnetic energy, blasting zones (;)) but mostly any time I want. I try to not do it while driving.

It used to be. Until the nonsense that passes for talk on the CB nowadays, and talking with everyone is nothing but a ##### session about how terrible trucking is. I would rather open my laptop and watch a comedy show.

Not to act like I know anything about this since I don't, but just sharing some comments btwn experienced drivers from another forum on this similar topic -- It seems the quality of drivers these days have changed from the old days being that companies are too quick to hire anyone and these new hires have apparently ruined the old-fashioned "trucking culture" (idk what you guys call it), including CB usage.

Personally, I think internet-related technology and the dependence on social media platforms have had a direct contribution to the decline of the face-to-face/direct and quality of communications these days to even the point of sheer substitution, regardless of occupation and age... as a general observation.
