what sectoins to study in the cdl manual before truck school

I would say general knowledge, air brakes and combination vehicle sections for a standard Class A CDL test.

 

^ What he said. Plus any endorsements you'll want. Doubles is a written test, and is basically a rehash of Combination Vehicles. If you need hazmat, you can take the written test along with your other written tests, though you'll have to follow up with fingerprinting and the background check. Tanker is also just a written test, and a pretty easy one. Even if the company you intend to work for doesn't require those endorsements, they could open doors for you down the road.

 

^^^^ and.... the practice test questions in the manual are worth their weight in gold. Know them and you'll pass. But study the whole thing the best you can.

Consider the hazmat/tanker endorsements plus get a passport & TWIC. If you get all this, you will be prepared for some great paying jobs.

 

The practice questions ARE the questions on the test. And the cdl manuals/tests are standardised across all the states. Go get your permit before you go. It will remove a Lot of stress.

 

How about from page 1 to the last page???? It is all relevant.

 

Or, you know, you can stick to the parts which actually are relevant... you're not going to gain much by 'studying' the foreword vs. simply reading over it, nor are things such as passenger vehicles and school buses going of be of much importance or interest to someone not going for those endorsements (which, aside from the written tests, also require a road test in a passenger bus, and, in the case of the latter, a background check).

 

Read it all, then there are websites where you can take the practice test, And those questions are exactly what is on the test. Go for all of it. That way you won't have to go get a endorsement or whatever at the spare of the moment, get your Permit before you get to school. The day or night they give you to go(they did that in my school) you can have off. Take Care Drive Right, Your first 6 months is the very most important time in your new career. Be Well.
