What size tarps should I carry with me?

They are heavy but more sturdy. Make sure you can comfortably lift 100ish pounds onto a flatbed though or it's going to be rough.

 

What would be best option if lifting that much might be a struggle

 

A light weight three tarp system. I think mytee has them but it's been a while since I looked.

 

Try to get three rows of d rings on each side of your lumber tarps. You will pay extra but you will really like them when you have a shorter load and can use the top row of d rings to tie the tarps down.

I only ever carried one 24 x 24 double row of D rings tarp. If I couldn't cover it then I didn't quote it. It was plenty for me.

 

Depends entirely on where you run what you want to haul. I'd say you most likely won't ever actually need 8 foot drops unless you plan on hauling drywall, insulation, hay, etc. Most lumber loads I do my 8's are a row or two below the rub rail, unless you get down into lowIQsiana where they stack them 4 high 3 long in the center instead of using your entire trailer.
