I drove trucks from 1984 until 1994 then decided to try something else.
That something else was commercial radio. Had a lot of different responsibilities, commercial production, show production, promotion coordination, on-air shifts.
Did mobile & club DJ work on the side from 1998 until 2010.
Did in stadium sound production for the Houston Astros 1999-2001 for the home games. Got to close out baseball in the Astrodome & open up Enron Field which is now Minute Maid Park. Probably the coolest gig I have ever had. -
Wow what a bunch of talented people here!
That's good to see that we all have a different story, background and experience...

I was a lot lizard. Then one day I got the bright idea if I was a truck driver I'd be the one doing the kicking out of the truck. Now I just hire myself.
I started working when I was 12 delivering newspapers. Then I worked in a few restaurants prior to going in the Army out of HS. I was an Improved Hawk Fire Control Repairman (24H). That was fixing the radar and control panels for the Hawk Missile system. Then I had a stint as a groundskeeper at a zoo when I got out of the Army. Then after dating the southeast regional FAA directors daughter, I got a job as an Air Traffic Controller. After 4 years we broke up and I kind of got blackballed from the FAA of sorts and quit. Then I worked in residential construction mainly as a carpenter, but I've done about every aspect of homebuilding. Then I worked in a chemical plant's lab. Then I got a union job as a warehouseman. My last year I was promoted to foreman. Then back to building after getting laid off. Then I finally made a commitment to something I always wanted to do and went to truck driving school in 1995.
One thing I like about trucking is it's easy to change jobs. As you see, I'm not one of these 25 year employees.U4EA Thanks this. -
