My 2017 Kenworth t680 is equipped with an Eaton 1,800 watt, true sine wave inverter. There are two duplex AC receptacles (one in the microwave compartment and one next to where the flat screen TV mount is), but both on the passenger side of the sleeper. Why didn't they think that they would have to put one on the driver's side for a CPAP machine. I'll have to run an extension cord somehow. Maybe use 1/4" PVC pipe as a safety conduit under the mattress.

With all due respect, remember, it's a truck, not a freakin' hotel. Be glad you got a plug at all. Trucking sure has changed,,,

I run my dorm fridge and microwave off of a heavy duty contractors cord from my inverter behind the drivers seat (I don't have any outlets hard wired)...no pvc. I ran the cord along the inside lip of the top bunk.

I don't know where you find the time to watch tv. I never had the time, so never had one in the truck. Just a dorm fridge and a cb. My wife rode with me. She didn't driverl, but she had a laptop for school. That was about it.

Trucks are really nice these days. Some company trucks have flatscreen tv, satellite radio, over 100 channels on the television, refrigerator/freezer, Tripac APU so you can operate all that stuff with the truck engine shut off plus operate your computer and electronic games. Then you get the seats that heat & cool & some even do a back massage. Much of that stuff is standard equipment nowadays. Some owner-operators have a regular business office set up in their truck; fax machine, printer, scanner. Can read the axle weights on gauges inside the tractor, read air pressure in truck/trailer tires, etc. and on and on.
Some DOT cars can automatically read the temperatures of your brakes as you pass by and will pull you over and write a ticket for brakes out of adjustment. Heat sensors are so sensitive they can see the outline of a human hiding inside your trailer; that's how they catch some human smugglers.

Being a staunch proponent of OTR, I figured I'd get a response out of you on this,,,I said it before, trucking sure has changed. For me, the truck always was, and always will be, a device to haul a load of goods, and maybe a nap,,,that's it. For me, I've always felt, there's much more to life, than living out of a truck.

I drove for an owner operator that had 2 trucks and both had satellite TV like 800 channels but didn't have the time to watch TV while on the road.

My truck has a power strip in the passenger side closet and 2 plugs in the drivers side upper shelf where the microwave is. Neither convenient, but I sure do love having them! Almost every big inverter I've ever had, was installed behind the drivers seat or in front of the bottom bunk. Now mine come factory installed against the back wall, under the bunk.
Between my printer and the microwave and my laptop, it's worth every penny

Should have moved the TV to the front by the passenger seat so you can watch it while driving.

Safety conduit? LOL You realize how many times a contractor runs over their cords with a pickup? Maybe it is possible that people put their head at the other end of the bunk?

The things that people piss and moan about these days. I hope the world goes to hell to clean out the gene pool.
