Yes, I too would like to know why the UPS truck was parked on the shoulder, and, if he had his triangles and four ways in use. I'm not excusing the driver that hit him, but let's find out more details.

I am curious about one portion of the story. When I went through training with Averitt this past June, the trainer sat in the passenger seat the entire time. This was not a team driving training method. I did 100% of the driving and all but one backing movement. I was using the facilities and the trainer took care of backing in the truck at that consignee.
Knowing the safety department here and seeing the damage I am almost certain the driver would have been fired as well for that accident. -
Well, he talked with a lawyer who told him being he did not receive any physical injuries..he doesn't have a good case. So now he's thinking about going out with another trainer....

Trainer was fired. Our friend went out with a new trainer today.

All I'll say about lawyers is well no. I'll let that: no I won't. I hope your friend has a wonderful career and gets over this thing quickly. Not so sure a lawyer will help that happen. Kinda in a lawyer's best interest to keep the pain alive and I will hush about that now.
Be safe all and not just driving. Three points of contact and put your stuff down before climbing. Saw a guy go down hard at the fuel island last week. He was hutin' for certain. Don't let that be you. Climb careful.jungledrums Thanks this. -
I personally do not like to see anyone fired. Mistakes happen. A big question is how does someone who makes the big mistakes become a TRAINER.
As to injuries that your friend suffered, I am sure he suffered PTSD as well. He probably has soft tissue damage and possibly a concussion. The fact that they fired the trainer is admitting they did something wrong. Problem is workmens comp. Now if he was a railroader $$$$$$$$$Kellanium and jungledrums Thank this. -
Maiming a kid could result in a lifetime of payouts by the company for medical care, not to mention lost income opportunity (How's Sally going to be a supermodel with a melted face?). It also probably costs them less if you kill an old person or a kid than a young man with 2 kids who is the primary earner for the house.
