Is YRC going broke? I know they were in financial hot water at one point, but managed to recover at the end. Now they are shutting down terminals in Montana, and Reddaway is supposedly picking up their freight/accounts. Does anyone have any insights on this?
Whats going on with YRC?

our last change of operation closed down 29 terminals... My friend says theyve done this before, shut down many terminals, then re-open then all again everywhere. I do know the 3 we lost, terminal 179 because the taxes were insane in that area, 134 terminal was a 5 door area with very very little freight going in, terminal 111 was destoryed by hurricane sandy, so they moved it all to 136, which was big enough for the two. Then due to a high rent every month they decided to re-open 111 because they couldnt sell it and they own the property, and was going to shut down 136 and 126. However 126 stayed open due to high amounts of freight coming in. These 3 terminals were all within 10 miles of each other.
My friend checks the stocks every day and says they keep on going up. No they are not going broke, they tried to buy out ABF so they got the money, they should use it to fix the beat up equipment but our CEO says he doesnt care about ANY of the equipment at all the companies... #$%^ him he doesnt have to drive itroad_runner Thanks this. -
. Bozeman and Kalispell will be closed and serviced out of Butte and Missoula terminals.
Reddaway is owned by YRC and competes in the same markets against each other. They also interline freight between each other.
YRC posted a profit last quarter, first time in years. -
I work for Reddaway and I think that they are routing a lot of the Yellow/Roadway freight through us, in southern California anyway. We picked up a lot of freight and we have been so busy. I hardly ever see any of the YRC guys around. I see an awful lot of Reddaway trucks though. This is just my opinion but I think YRC is trying to put an end to the Master Freight Agreement. Kind of reminds me of the Consolidated Freight/Conway deal. The good thing is Reddaway is organizing but I'm pretty sure they aren't under the Master Freight Agreement. From what I heard it's a paper contract. Anyway it feels all to familiar to me. Conway had 3 regionals and so does YRC. I know it's not exactly the same but it just feels off to me.

Yes they are union but what are their contracts like? I think it's still important they have the union but it should be under the Master Freight Agreement. I guess master freight was numbered anyway with deregulation. Inflation is climbing faster and higher than wage increases. I remember in the late 1990's 50k was a lot of money. 50k is still a lot of money in some places but it's chump change where I live. A family where I live needs to be taking in 150k to live comfortably. Heck, my family income is more than that and I still don't have any money! I guess that saying "You spend what you make" is true! We do live pretty nice though

I would really love to get out of California. Getting to expensive and over crowded. My sister bought a house for 460k and it was built in 1947 has 1500 sq ft. Needs a lot of work and just seems really cramped. I was like WTH were you thinking! The wife and I have been saving and plan on buying out of state eventually. Looking to go to Texas, Tenn. Can get a whole lot of house for 460k out there. I wouldn't even need that much house.
My wife is a nurse, they make bank! If I keep working like I have been I'll be hitting 75k this year. My wife makes 150k. -

A lot of guys said they had tons of small about 6-15 door terminals around as well. THere were 3 in CT within 40 miles, but the two tiny ones closed down and we got some work and the only terminal left in CT got the remaining. 2 Ny terminals do part of CT, and the RI terminal as well.
