Easy there, no point in getting yourself in trouble over something that can be easily over looked.
What's the average you make off of one truck weekly as a fleet owner?

You need to be concerned with revenue, because without it, you won't make a profit. Believe it or not, there's many businesses out there that don't make a profit, they just "break even". They have enough revenue coming in to pay overhead and payroll, but nothing left over to put in the bank. Learn all you can about running a small business. When I worked for SMX years ago, Bossman said he needed each truck to produce $10 k a month in revenue, or about $500 daily, allowing for the truck sitting 1-2 days a week. The other thing is, you won't necessarily turn a profit weekly. It's the year end totals that matter. Like the retailers at the mall, they just tread water all year, then the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday) it's manna from heaven until Xmas shopping is done. One downfall of trucking is one little mistake by a driver can bankrupt the operation a mistake such as running over a mini-van full of kids and wiping out 5 of them. Can you say "lawsuit" ?

Son I am not out to make you fail. This is a very rough way to make a living. You don't have "friends". I have been home less than two hours as of now. Blew a trailer tire, that killed the other tire, was inspected & fined for a break I didn't take/log over all made 1184.00 for 3 days work. Cost me 790.00 + change to make it. If that's what you want, have at it.

You need to learn more before even contemplating this move, along with running a truck yourself for a few years.
Cry all you want to about the popcorn crowd. We have seen it all before, so take it for what it's worth. Costs us nothing if you jump in and rapidly lose everything you own does it? You need to put this firmly on the back burner, and at least get a truck and drive it first. And do not fall for the flease deals that all these thieving carriers have going on.

That half an hour break is rediculous. I normally drive for 5 take a half pee, pretrip whatever and then drive 4 1/2 and call it a day. I do 10 a day so I get a a full 7 days with 70 hours then do my reset. From what I'm reading from the fmcsa they're supposed to do away with that half an hour break at 8 hours of logged driving time.

A more relevant question would be this,,,How deep are your pockets?

Should be easier to design and engine which runs off brokers promises and you would have no problem attaining such a meager goal. Hell I read about L/P drivers running 1.40/mile freight making that much everyyyyyyyy week,,,no sweat...

The popcorn comment is when I see a question like the one you posted, I can see somebody who hasn't done a lot of research yet. When the person follows it up with a bunch of ATTITUDE, then the post turns into a SHOW.
And you need popcorn for the show.
I could answer some questions for you, but so far - I'm all on paper, no real world experience in owning (truly owning), and operating. That's where these other guys come in.
Here's a tip, son. When you ask a question - research a little yourself first, and then ask if you don't stumble across the answer. Then assume you're the dumbest person on the planet and appreciate EVERY comment, and the fact they took the time to READ YOUR QUESTION. Most successful guys here really don't have that much time to offer opinion or help here, but still do.
Saddle tramp 1200's answers often appear odd or crazy, but they're generally cryptic messages of genius.
My posts are often laced with cynicism, sarcasm and humour - so chuckle away if your ego let's you, and move right along.
If I had a $ for every failure story I've seen or heard both here and 'real world', I'd have about $25. 25 sad dollars. 25 "I used to own my own truck" stories that could have been avoided.
Good luck sir.Steeleandsonfarms and leftlanetruckin Thank this.
