What's the best engine you've had?

    The tall deck 22Rs (1985+) had a fatal flaw... nylon timing chain guides that would eventually break. The timing chain would then slowly wear a hole through the back of the timing cover and let all the water into the oil pan from behind the water pump. If that didn't kill the engine, the timing guide pieces would eventually plug the oil pickup and spin the #1 rod bearing (why #1, I don't know, it just always seemed to be the one to let go first).

    I rebuilt a lot of these in the early 2000s, and could pick up trucks with a "bad head gasket" cheaply that usually only needed a new timing cover.

    My 16 year old Son killed the 86 1Ton Standard Cab Longbed. (I miss that truck to this day.) He hit a block wall behind a trailer park. He is 37 now.... I have forgiven him! Lol

    I beg to differ, in fact i would rather drive a volvo then do another head gasket or timing chain on one of those #### boxes
