you have never done MMA there's times you can't use it on a robber like say they keep there distance throw your wallet once in range find my chance I will wreck them MMA teaches you how fight against real people theres no dummies these are real fighters who love then nothing more looking for another fight myself included.
there are few times I have had 2+ random people out nowhere attack me wanting money they learn fast I am not the easy target they want and they brought no weapons so they got exactly what they deserved an arse whopping and jail

Some people train and become proficient at MMA and martial arts.
    But only some.
Most can fight in a dojo and that's about it. Police train in the academy to fight off the crazys but still usually need backup.
I would put proper attitude over most training.
I don't want to ever have to shoot someone but if given no other option they'll never get within arms reach.

You don't need to be a big guy to take on bigger people, you don't even need be a guy you just need better training. Most these people are just everyday fighters one is a semi-pro one I am big wrestler person but I started at Jujutsu combining the two end of a decent fight you both are likely end up on the ground otherwise. the under-trained guy will just be overwhelmed my nephew knows Jujutsu he's had people try to bully him they all don't mess with him I taught him well I don't condone violence but being prepared and having confidence is good to have.

If the fight is consensual and on a floor, with mats, I am all for it I told him if he has issues with someone ask him if he like to go to your dojo and fight it out hell you might even make a new friend iv made several people became friends with after the arse whooping I gave them hes will be a freshman in high school next year best thing for him was the confidence he gained from MMA and becoming a Scout of America he plans go collage and military becoming a lawyer.

FYI police training very variant and pretty bad join the marines if you want to be serious they will boost your confidence me while i never serve I do have the utmost respect for the military since most my relatives became marines or air force, army, we had one go navy 2 yrs ago.

The only weapon I have actually used is a ABC Fire Extinguisher. Pull the pin, aim it straight in the face, The guy who thought he was attacking me was coughing, and going the other way. Worked very well, did make a bit of a mess in the street. And of course if all else fails, it turns into a great baton . And legal carry actually manditory in all 50 states.

While not foolproof sometimes the best weapon is the human brain. Avoiding bad situations as much as possible is worth mentioning. Example. Many years ago years before TA bought them out I was at the Atlanta Petro. If my memory serves I was in my POV headed out to Vila Rica to stay with some friends and stopped there to eat! While standing at the check out a driver ahead of me pulled out a wad of cash in a money clip and I noticed at least one (C) note in that wad. I also took note of two black kids also watching him and they were about 20 seconds behind him as he walked out to the back parking. Another driver and I stopped a mugging that night. Situational awareness is critical in this business. To this very day, I still see people pulling money clips out, not trying to blame the victim here, just saying more caution where you yank it out can mean the difference between a bad situation and going on your way!

Whatever you choose to carry, keeping it next to your seat by the fire extinguisher is a terrible idea. If anyone were to pull your door open it becomes their weapon. In any type of altercation youre at a major disadvantage being in the drivers seat. You should plan to reach AWAY from the attacker for your weapon/tire thumper/bear spray/ desert eagle, whatever.

    Speaking of situational awareness...

Was driving the car towards downtown to meet family for lunch. Stopped in a gas station to grab some fuel. I am standing on the passenger rear waiting for the pump to click off. I hear a woman’s voice and see a woman walk by the front of the car. She is talking loudly. She walks past the car 15 feet and stops. Instincts tell me this is a flanking move. There will be someone else.

I get from between the cat and the pumps, walk 20 feet behind the car. Some dude sticks his head through the pumps to look at the spot I was. He is surprised to see that I am behind him. The woman, still talking loudly takes a step towards me. I wait. Dude motions for her to follow him and they walk between the pumps and away.

I have heard stories in some cases going all the way back to the 30s about truckers being murdered! Remember I am the son of a driver and heard some of these stories way back in the 60s from then long retired drivers. My father witnessed one driver murder another in Sierra Blanca Texas back in the early 70s. I remember such a murder near Buffalo NY. It happens. My father wacked a thief across his head for stealing fuel out of his truck many years ago. He used a "thumper" picked up in the TS C-Store.

There have been times during my career where I felt ill at ease making a pick-up or delivery. After doing many repos trust me, I feel blessed at not having lead flying at me. I have actually driven to a TS and contacted my company refusing to make a pick-up or delivery because I did not feel safe doing so. The most dangerous kind of pick-ups or deliveries is crossing a picket line. I advise EXTREME caution doing so. I have a lot of woman friends that sometimes will call or text me asking about what to do. Especially at night in out of the way drop yards with no real lighting or security. I always tell them DO NOT OVERRIDE your senses when it comes to this. I stand by my situational awareness position. This dang job is NOT worth losing your life over OR being jailed because you used deadly force in an area where it's not politically correct to do so. <<<This comment is as close as I will go with the politics of firearms!
