what's the horsepower of this engine

    Hi I'll be getting a Peterbilt 579 in a couple weeks I'm just curious what the horsepower is as I don't see it written anywhere

    How are we supposed to know? Get the serial number and call Cummins or check on their website

    Theres a black tag on the drivers side of the valve cover on the front of the engine. Will have all the relevant info on it. Horsepower, torque, CPL, etc.

    Buying a truck without knowing what the horsepower is (Do you know what make the engine is?) sounds like a sure fire recipe for business success.

    And keep an extra coolant level sensor handy. Listening to the dash “ding” at you for extended periods SUCKS!!!!!

    Check the glove compartment box. I have had trucks that have HP rating there. Or stickers inside the door frame.
