No I have never and will never send in a GOAL message lol. License plate along with GOAL that is a new one I hadn't heard til today. But even that is defeatable by writing it down during your pretrip on a little sticky note.

A professional driver doesn't need to be treated like a child I agree. If it is a Swift insurance requirement that we send in GOAL they need to provide documentation proof of such before I would consider doing that.

The only one that really bugs the crap out of me is the inverter rule as a company driver. Even a 1K watt inverter would increase my comfort level and reduce my road spending by leaps and bounds.

Everything else I can deal with really, you get just as many if not more childish rules in office or retail jobs.

I have heard a new policy is that the drivers will be taking a road ready class and receive tools and mudflaps etc. The mudflaps will be stored under the bunk mattress and every time the truck comes into the shop the mechanic is required to check the status of the mudflaps- really an excuse to enter the truck and check for cleanliness etc. Along with all the signs hanging in the shops about not leaving anything of value in the truck, I don't think I could ever go back to being a company driver living with these asinine rules. Maybe that is their mission, make the drivers uncomfortable enough they will choose to lease a truck for more privacy.

I worked for a company that put the little g..o.a.l. decals on the mirrors. I figured a driver that needed to be reminded to goal would ignore the sticker. And drivers who did goal when needed didn't need the sticker on the mirror. At a couple bucks per truck, and a few thousand trucks, that's a lot of wasted money.

I saw a trailer the other day that had
    G
    O
    A
    L
on the side of the trailer in the position that the driver would see it if jacked around at 90 degrees, oh and the letters were inverted so they read correctly in the reflected mirror.

Rumor has it that all drivers will be required to run a minimum of 1000mi per week in order to get a free shower @ a terminal now. You'll have to get a shower credit from the kiosk, and give the reciept to Miguel the shower janitor.
but... you can put the shower on yer comdata card, and have it deducted from your pay. I think they are charging $5, not bad, concidering.

There's also talk of going to $1 an hour for the internet service in the terminals due to some drivers bringing in those big honkin' water cooled desktop computers with triple 25inch widescreens arrayed out on the table (1 for downloading/watching a movie, 1 for playing the graphics intense games and the other for skype talk back home-- they have their Janet, Miss Jackson if you're Nasty boom mic) for their shoot em up games. They are drawing huge amounts of broadband and slowing the network down not to mention spending 50 plus hours playing their games in terminals every week instead of running freight.

If you have been to Lathrop lately, they have all kinds of snacks and soda drinks you just grab what you want and take over to the pay area and scan it like you're at the store then swipe your card to pay. I heard soon it will be even easier if you don't have money, you just input your driver code and password and the money will come out of your next check for those twinkies. Don't try to steal, they have more cameras than a casino vault.

My company gave me the sticker in orientation and that was the last thing that was ever mentioned about it. It's in the truck somewhere. :biggrin_25523:

Regarding sending the "goal" message. It only takes a few seconds to do. It's not like you have to climb up on top of the trailer, do a handstand, while singing kumbaya...

I look at it as a small price to pay, as I'm fortunate to have a job. Was without one for a bit, and it got darn close to not knowing if I was going to eat or not that day.
