What's up with drivers parking IN the fuel island to go shopping and not fueling...WTF??

Problem

 

One time I was at a small loves fueling and mid-fueling the idle cutoff that my company uses to save fuel turned off the truck. When I went to crank her I got a no crank, starter died right there tried whacking it no luck. Had to wait 2 hours for the road service since the loves I was in didn't have any mechanics. Boy did I piss of other truckers and the manager.

 

Your not supposed to be fueling with the engine running anyhow...

 

reminds me about when I ran OTR ...One night 3am ish (was on an overnight run 1200km booked in at far end..grrr). I needed to fuel as any later in the run it wouldn't log right ...so two sets off pumps on the outside set were the night LCVs (twin 53s) and on the other a truck on the pumps,well I get my book looking good and no sign of movement so I walk up and no hose in tank,knocked on the cab door no answer . Still lcvs waiting in the other lane so I walk in to the shop/resteraunt ask attendant whats up .....no he never fueled!! so she puts it over the tannoy...I walk into the can no one there but me . As I walk out "the driver behind me is laying into the clerk" about the kin truck ...I tell him I'm in the KW in front of him looking for the driver parked on the pump. We were stumped where to look next as the resteraunt was closed until "my friend" saw two people drinking coffee at a table ,well he stomped in like the jolly green giant shouting ..no screaming is that your fkin truck parked on the pump well the drivers both French Canadians said yes whats the problem ,the poor clerk had to tell them move or they were banned (was going to phone company ,,yeah right) my friend was shouting they were shouting I was thinking ## john law is coming to play. Anyway he moves forwards just enough so I can fuel ..my new friend is standing eyeballing MR frog ,I fuel up go to move forwards and Mr frog is playing games again till my friend starts running to the cab and he moves forwards a couple o lengths . I must have sat an HR at the pump so it was peddle on the limiter the rest o the run home to drop trailer for city man ,my "new friend " passed me like a raped ape not long after .a few kind words on the cb and and keep it rolling. this was the worst ive had so far.

 

To defend the guy in the blue truck in that video who didn't pull forward and was inside, you don't know what he had to deal with before he went inside. I've pulled up behind a truck that was doing their #### 30 minute break at the pump. I decided to go inside, take a leak, wash my hands, refill my drink, etc and by the time I came out he was gone because I had no idea when he'd leave or how long he'd been there but after about 20 min of waiting I went inside because I needed to piss. So it made it look like I was holding up the pump when in fact it was the guy in front of me and I was just a victim of a small bladder and couldn't wait anymore.

 

I had a deal sorta like that the other day.I fueled And Couldn't Pull Up because of a numbskull parked in front of the pumps.So what are you gonna do,wait on him ,or go get your receipt and corn dogs? While I'm in there,they Apparently Left...and Loves is on the intercom "Please pull forwards after fueling".So Now I come outside,He's Gone...and I look like the clown holding up the line.LOL
