You'll see stuff you never dreamed of, and lots of stuff you never wanted to see

 

not nearly as exciting or romantic as many portray, will be mundane in a matter of months. Be prepared for frustration and loneliness if OTR is your game...lots of tools these days to make life out there better however.

 

It'll take your body a while to adjust to it. But.....you're lucky that air ride and power steering are almost standard now as opposed to rare when I started. Springs, cab-overs and Armstrong steering would wear a guy out in short order

 

You ever see smokey and the bandit? My first year of trucking was absolutely nothing like that... it was a lot of hard work coupled with a lot of fun going places I had never been before.

 

Lost some weight - from sheer stress and terror, and a knowledge that I had to make it through.

Then I was just a regular old super trucker for the following 11 years . . .

 

At first, it's an adventure.
Then, the novelty wears off and you realize it's a job.
But it's not "just a job"; it's a pretty #### cool job.
