Right now i am a lease operator for a mega. I have a 2012 Cascadia with the DD15 with 285,000 miles. I am very aware that these trucks can be plagued with emissions issues but it seems that some trucks are fine while others are doomed from day one. When are you seeing emissions (with regards to miles) issues popping up? If there havent been issues in the first 285,000, what is the likelihood of serious issues developing later on?
When do you see emissions issues?

Soon if that trk has been idled alot?. And dpf filter and def filter havn't been serviced yet. Idling is very hard on the newer engines especially the dpf filter

Thanks to the TriPac, truck only has 4% idle time. FL suggests having the DPF replaced/cleaned with the 300k PM. Im trying to figure out if its worth purchasing the truck.

Change your Oil filters frequently, EGR motors use the oil to collect contaminates that in older motors simply went out the exhaust pipe, and, its those toxic compounds like sulphur trioxide as they increase inside the oil will breakdown seals. (change oil filters frequently and change the oil).

I see emission issues when I have dreams about Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood giving each other...wait...never mind

I encounter serious emission issues about 100 miles after my wife eats beans or cucumbers. There ain't enough Febreze air freshener in the WORLD for that emission problem! LOL.
Sorry, I have driven 2 2012 FL Cascadias w/ the DD15. One company driver fleet spec'd w/ 250K, no APU and not- Cali-Carb or SmartWay certified (no decals or certs anyway), the other an OO spec'd fleet truck w/ 475K miles (my current), an APU and Cali-CARB and SmartWay certified. With the lower mileage one I had all kinds of problems with the DEF injector getting clogged and the thing needing cleaning (remove rinse with water and replace - at a Dealership), it thinking I was out of DEF when I wasn't and hadn't let it get below 1 green bar (sensor problems) and it needing a forced regen and wouldn't let me do one. With the higher mileage certified one with the APU I did have to get the shop to force it to do a regen once but that's the only issue with emissions - other than a coolant leak at the EGR. I guess that could go either way as to emission problem or coolant system problem - I classified it as coolant. I'm like the other guys. The APU had appropriate hours for the previous owner to have been religious about using it and he was an OO, the other was a company driver fleet truck and no APU so I guarantee it had a ton of idle time. I'm going along w/ jason6541. I think idle time has a LOT to do with emission problems in these "new" DD15's.
100 miles after eating beans . . . too funny. If only it weren't true. LOL. -
Not sure the price for freightliner to bake dpf filter. Shouldn't be to much also service the def filter

I don't think you know what you are talking about.

Early Cascadias had ecm programmed to throw a check engine light at 300,000 miles for dpf cleaning by 330,000 mine was derating if I remember correctly it was 850 to clean filter and install new seals they need to put a code in ecm to get check engine light to go out.. Yours being a scr model dpf cleaning may be at a higher mileage due to less egr flow

Oil and filter changed at 50K intervals, and they do an oil analysis for each one. I'm careful to cool it down before shutting it off and not to buy fuel from low volume suppliers, but the 2013s have been less trouble than the earlier models, this one has never been towed except for a deer hit taking out the radiator lower tank.
They did the overhead at about 80k miles, when it shut down for needing the DPF regenerated, and I just over rode the shutdown and did a parked regeneration, 9 minutes later, it turned off all of the warning lights. but the truck reports malfunction indicator lamp lit and any shut down to FL service. I'm sure they will get the service they need whenever it's needed, but not until needed.
