I was delivering #2 fuel oil to a school once. 11pm, all quiet, everything's fine.

Just as I start dropping in comes 5 school buses, couple cargo vans, and a bunch of four wheelers. Out of the buses pile the football team, cheer squad, band, boosters, chaperones, and assorted gear.

Shouted instructions, squealing, hugging, high-fiving (I think they won), and four wheelers running in and outta the parking lot.

Kids coming over to see what I was doing, asking questions about the truck....took me an extra hour and a half to get outta there, when the last of the vehicles blocking me in dispersed.

    Nice slice of life, though.

I go thru something a little similar when I deliver my company loads at "events"... Those events have lots and lots of people... sometimes they set booths, bring lots of volunteers, organizers, tables, this and that... and then, the people who will receive the load (boxes of food and other products for families in need), they arrive... in general, 400 families come to get the boxes... We -drivers - sometimes we have to stage there till all are gone.... so we can leave...

Lucky for us the kids were all in class.
They had to move cars so we could get in and dump.
    What a mess that was.

I think the worst is over. But the devastation it left behind will be here for a very long time. Miles and miles of fire burning so hot it sterilized the dirt after. burning the brush
