Well that's good. Cause we all know that there ain't no trees around Lebanon TN. Meanwhile the city of Ft Worth is in danger of being wiped out by the out of control Forest down there. Sounds like a good plan.

Oh. That gourmet fancy stuff. Well, I don't know what a mesquite tree looks like anyhow, so's I can't say for certain if they have them things in TN or not. I'll concede your point. I'll also continue in my belief that hickory smoke is superior in every way over mesquite.

And I'll stick to my beliefs that Cedar smoked is better than both of those also ran east coast fads.

You got a stop thinking that way. You're dividing all wrong. I used to think that way too until I came to the conclusion that the War between the State's shouldn't ever be repeated and they didn't divide it East and West ( even though it was included in that War ) in the majority of the media it's referred to as the South vs North.
I don't recall off hand ever having Cedar smoked anything but I'm more than willing to allow that it does sound good and I would, at least, like to try something prepared like that.
On top of that I don't like a East-West comparo because it brings to mind the enormous amounts of conflict between Communist vs any other system. Not only that but even Canada would be split the wrong way. Things are scary enough in the World as it is, can't we leave that one at bay ?
Maybe we can arrange a taste off if you know where/what I can grab off a shelf somewhere and try some Cedar ?
Even if I don't like it, I'd still declare it tied for the sake of friendship.

I got 4 pallets of cedar planks and 9 pallets of Mesquite

I prefer fruit tree wood and pecan before any others

Eeeww. Maybe York ain't as bad as I remember ? I stopped at Earle a year and a half back and they lined both sides of the curly cue East bound exit with Jersey barrier concrete blocks. Either that or a Truck carrying those concrete blocks had just overturned and they left 'em where they fell ? Figured the rest of us Trucks could lightly massage them into place ? I've had better clearance in Manhattan at 5 o'clock. Or a phone booth with 5 other people.

Applebee's has a cedar grilled chicken.....

I do agree with @chopper103in on the fruit wood and nut woods as a good nominees for the top 10 cooking woods. I do lean toward Almond over Pecan mostly because that's what I grew up with.
