Question:
So I chained a lot this year. My wet / snow gear was some cheap #### I’d use for sailing. I figured with summer coming “good” gear might be for sale. Here’s my question(s)... who makes good gear? Carhartt? I’m not afraid to spend money on good stuff that will last for years. What jacket pants combo do you use for cold, wet, miserable chaining weather, and where did you get it?

Hey @Tall Mike I’m in Denver / Aurora. Heading back west on the 70 later today. Any restaurants I should grab a bite at?
chopper103in, 062 and Tall Mike Thank this. -
I dont run a lot of that area. There was a Billy Simms BBQ on the Kansas side of 70. It was in the Hays area right by the Harley Davidson dealer if I remember correctly.
My buddy told me about a Mexican restaurant just outside Denver. It was right by the 4 Wheel Parts store off 70. I can't remember the exit but he said you could street park out behind the restaurant.chopper103in, Rocks, Feedman and 1 other person Thank this. -
Real De Minas Mexican grill. I'm sure that's it.chopper103in, Rocks, Feedman and 3 others Thank this. -

Otter? Are you looking for insulated or foul weather gear? Carhartt(sp?) is my choice as well for insulated. Otherwise in the summer I never bothered to get any slickers type gear. I live on the coast of Maine and dont fish. Something out of place there.

Insulated, for those days where I throw chains multiple times on the I 80 or I 70.
Thanks for the response BTW.chopper103in, lovesthedrive and Tall Mike Thank this. -
Walmart sells the “walls” brand it’s basically a knockoff of carhartt. I have a pair of insulated coveralls that have took a pretty good beating. Also one one of the canvas coats and it’s to much unless the temps are in the teens or lower.chopper103in, lovesthedrive, Tall Mike and 4 others Thank this.

If I was you I’d get myself some hi-vis carhartt rain gear. Since you’re not out in it long you could just wear a hoodie underneath with jeans and that would suffice to keep you warm and dry.chopper103in, SAR, lovesthedrive and 6 others Thank this.

I bought a Carhartt Hi-vis coat and pants off their website last year (around Christmas) — light weight, water proof and well insulated— expensive, but the best gear I have had for work. It’s now my go-to coat for everything.chopper103in, Tall Mike, Feedman and 3 others Thank this.
