Where Are You Continues, Again.....

One more reason for a green house so I can have a grafted citrus tree. I'm thinking lemon and lime on one tree.

 

Scripps Institue has a tree that the students had grafted all citrus trees together. It grew this tiny egg shaped fruit. A friend named Chris Baudreau (pronounced bud-drerw) was fearless and felt he had to try one. The tour guide watched as his face suddenly soured. He said it was wicked sweet yet mighty sour. We all passed at sampling it.

 

I am a "city girl" as my ex-husband used to call me....
When I was born, I lived in Copacabana, Rio... in a flat on the 5th floor of a building.... used to enjoy watching the traffic down there from the window of my apartment in my dad's arms...
Then, my parents and I moved to 5 other places in the state of Rio and in the city of Rio. Most were flats in 4 story buildings and skyscrapers. We never had any garden, even though we have lived in two houses too... and after I left my parents' place, I did live in houses in Brasil and in America... but never grew anything....

Well it turns out that I’m the God of snow.

Absolutely dumped on me on the 89 between Susanville and Weed. Also more deer on the road than I’ve ever seen.

No chains necessary. Just a continuation of my pain.

I’m now convinced that the Olympic Committee should pay me to show up for the Winter Olympics... they’d have more snow than what they’d know what to do with.

I would also donate time when parents would tell their kids “It will be a cold day in Hell...” so the kids could torture the parents.

 

You coulda turned right just before Susanville to run 395 up to Alturas and then Klamouth Falls. Would save you 20 miles and kept you in the high country longer.

As for gardens, my dad grew tomatoes in our backyard. Big, plump, juicy ones. We'd all stand out back, salt shaker in hand, pulling tomatoes right off the vine.

Makes my mouth water, remembering that.

I grew green beans in two big plastic totes one year. Had fresh green beans every night for weeks.

If I was home more, I'd try some other stuff. I get one of those seed catalogs that carries a lot of the heirloom varieties. I'd like to grow some carrots that ACTUALLY have flavor!
