Thank you. He did, I had to paddle, LoL. We usually put a piece of dunnage (rubber mat) on the 'stern' (haha, the back) and throw on the trolling motor that 'maybe' goes 5mph if we are fishing. We just horsed around for an hour since I got in a bit early today...wore ME out, tho!

Yes sir... the States is more "home" than Brasil... however, I feel like I don't know what "home" is any more....:biggrin_25513:
What I am saying is for real.... I don't know what home is.... for the last 11 yrs I have been living in a truck.. a Freightliner.... and that has been my home... and 4 times a year I stayed in a hotel... which was not a home but I would make that a home for a while....
Now in Brasil.... once I leave the lady's home here (which has never been my home anyway), I will stay in hotels.... eat at restaurants.... and when I go back to the USA... I will stay in a hotel for a while... who knows how long.... I will have lots of things to do before I go back in a truck....

M'lady, I wish I knew what to say. That feeling of displacement sucks. When my dad died and my mom sold our family farm (yeah, helped me build a house and a pole barn) ... I was displaced for quite some time. OTR was actually an escape in it's own way. I felt bad leaving the wife with the kids (and one on the way, which I did get time off for) but it became MY life. I get it.

In all sincerity, maybe you DO need some of this time away, to just decompress. Do you have any good friends you could hang out with when you come back to the states? Or are you just going to get back in the truck?! << If that IS your comfort zone, and you know you are dang good at it; what's so bad about that? IDK where you worked, but you know they'd take you back, and are probably biting their nails, waiting. Not many of us professionals out here anymore, you know.

Women love jacuzzi's and baths and such...can you treat yourself to a Hotel with those amenities? Either there, or here?

Let me know if there's anything I could say or do... I could always pm you my wife's number if you'd like someone to chat with, for sure.

We care, ya know. MANY of us here.
    Tom

Hey Mr. @G13Tomcat ... I appreciate and very thankful for your caring words... I am glad you sympathize with my feelings... displacement... that's pretty close to what I feel.... Sometimes I think nobody can relate... almost everybody that I know has homes and families....
I have been enjoying myself some here... talking my language... feels much better than talking in English... I can express myself much better... and I am familiar with the culture here which makes it easier to communicate...
Even though I am in a different region... I was raised in the southeast... much different from the northeast here... but this is still part of my culture and my background...
I think I will feel very depressed when I get back to the USA.... as it has happened before when I go back in the winter... it's such a HUGE difference.... the weather, the people.... every time I leave Brasil in the summer and arrive in the USA in the winter.... :biggrin_2552: it takes me a while to "adjust"....
No... I don't have any good friend to hang out with when I arrive in the USA... your ideas of Jacuzzi and some other ways to treat myself are great... :yes2557:

Then maybe it IS in the grand scheme of thing for you to stay, for a while. Speak your language, mingle, and just decompress. Winter comes and goes, you know. You could probably land a job driving there, if you so desired. Not sure about all the licensure, though. I'm sure you have dual citizenship, since you can drive a car (with cattle herds, haha!) there. Would that be an option?

Great food, your language, jacuzzis and candles... alone can be great; ask my wife. She adores her alone time; she's had a tough life, as well. I wish you the best, always.

That Jacuzzi in Barcelona looks pretty cool.... not sure how jacuzzis are in Brasil... never been in one....
I plan on taking care of all that I need in Rio... which is a lot... in the meantime, I may go to the beach... since I plan on staying in a hotel in Cabo Frio... that's a touristic beach town.... in the northern region of the state of Rio de Janeiro.... see the image I sent a few postings ago...
A very old friend of mine invited me to stay in his place... but not sure I will... I believe his place has only one bedroom and a living room... I gotta have privacy...

I would NEVER be a driver in Brasil.... the traffic here is almost suicidal... :biggrin_2552:
