Yes.. It would be cheaper to retire there.... depending on where I lived and lifestyle... And there are 3 things that I absolutely love in Brasil... the food... yummm yummmm.. the warm weather and no snow.. and the music... and also.. it's my language, my culture... easier to communicate..
HOWEVER, there are many things that I HATE about Brasil.. that's why I left the country and not sure I would be comfortable living in Brasil at older age, needing care, medical care and who knows what else... problem is to find reliable and trustworthy people... Brasil doesn't have all the programs and services for elderly people like America does...
"Trap some rich guy..."No way... that's absolutely not me...
But hey.. I may end up retiring in America.... just gotta find the right place... a warm nice place... quiet, cheap and not very far from a big city with everything that I need... I gotta keep looking...

That is one good thing about trucking otr style, a guy/gal gets to see different parts of the country at different times of the year to see how they like the climate, the cheap and close may very well be the hardest to come across, but no doubt you can find what you want somewhere.Rocks Thanks this. -
So... yesterday was a drenched day.... I went to the city of Rio and it torrential rain all day long... I got dripping wet, my nylon coat, all my clothes, my socks and even my panties.... I had taken my laptop with me to check some DVDs that I had ordered... so.. had to carry a heavy bag all day, going from one place to another in downtown Rio, under torrential rain and strong wind... that REALLY sucked...
Didn't have time for lunch.... went to a government office and had to wait for about one hr in a cold room, shivering in my wet clothes...What a day...
Then, tried to find a room in three different hotels... but they were all full...
So.. I got this one...
That was the whole room.... with a small bathroom to the right.. with shower head on top of toilet...
That was about U$22.00 dollars...
Took all my wet clothes off and hang them to dry till a little later... when I had to go out again...

Went to Rio International airport last night to deal with my flight ticket but had to wait 1:30hr cause they were dealing with a cancelled flight...
By the time I left, there were no more buses...and I had to split a taxi cab with another gentleman who THANKFULLY was going in my same direction...
And after he got off, the taxi driver drove me to my destination for free!
062 Thanks this. -
Left that hotel this morning.. no bed bugs and no virus... but I didn't shower there...
Went to another airport today to leave my heavy bag and cell at a locker.. then, went to American Consulate..... they don't allow bags and cell phones in there...
Will have a renewed American passport within 10 or so days... cause I may need more time in Brasil... and my passport will expire in February... -
Sounds like you had already showered, washed clothes and everything by the time you found that great big room lol Them kind of adventures were kind of fun 30 years ago, but I am not crazy about them anymore. lol

After what I saw my mom going thru when she became disable and dependent on my dad and maid at home to bathe her, feed her, give her medication, take her to doctors and help her to move around..
And then my dad... after she passed away.. he was 78 and very blessed to find another woman... 20 yrs younger than him... who took care of him, after he got a brain stroke and lost motion of his left arm and leg.. and had diabetes and lung and blood cancer for years... and she treated him like an angel till his passing...
Of course I would stay with him and do whatever to take care of him if she were not around...
I hope I don't live long enough to be dependent on anybody like that.. but who knows.. I must have a good plan to provide for myself and take care of myself if I live long enough... but that doesn't mean getting a man...Last edited: Nov 13, 2019

Ok OK, then let a nice 25 year old rich dude trap you. lol
I hear what you are talking about, I have been married to the same good woman all my life, if it wasn't for her, I doubt seriously I would have ever made it this long. lol
Not as bad, but I was down for a year and a half, she waited on me pretty much hand and foot. I didn't like it, but it wasn't like I could do anything about it. I have a young helper that lives with us now, and don't need near as much care, but he takes good care of me too, plus does a lot that helps her. I would be hard pressed to live alone even if my health was great I think, it would at the very least take a lot of getting used to. -
Just woke up here in Memphis. Monday was such a long day that I went to bed as soon I was done yesterday.
I have two more stops, then see what I can find heading back east.
