Headed north once more. This time it's a drop and hook out of Martinsville, Va due at 11am tomorrow.

Biding my time in the truck until I hear the trailer is ready.

    Been a slow few weeks...

Side note...anyone have any suggestions on a used truck? I'd love a diesel...fuel costs more but the engines last longer. Been looking everywhere for a standard...nobody wants them these days.

Unless you're towing really heavy get a gasser IMO........Just like in big trucks diesels are expensive to maintain, a gasser with the right gears will do you a fine job...I searched a lot for a used truck with 3 pedals instead of 2 they are getting really hard to find..

I'm running a Lariat Super Duty with a 6.2L and 4.30 gears wouldn't trade it for anything except maybe a Platinum with the same motor and gears....If you go Super Duty the 6.0's had their problems, the 6.4 was decent, and the 6.7 is a hoss I test drove one.....Anything from like 2004 on in a Ford diesel will have emissions on them.....The 7.3 Powerstroke was a good solid motor if you can find one at a decent price and no emissions I'm aware of..
The 6.8L V10 was a beast but was thirsty.....Early 6.8's and 5.4's like to spit plugs for some reason..Personally I'd stay away from the 5.4 in a Super Duty I had one it did a good job but I wouldn't tow heavy with one..

That concludes todays lesson on Super Dutys..

Don't know much about Dodges other than the guys I've chatted with love the Cummins but overall Dodge quality is a little sketchy.....Never owned one myself so can't say first hand thats just hearsay FWIW..

So Ford isn't as bad as its reputation of Find On Roadside Daily or Fix Or Repair Daily eh?

Dodge looked good for a while to me. Found out their 4x4 systems had a great deal to be ironed out.

    Kinda needed for snow...

    Not IMO Fords aren't....I've owned 3 F150's, 2 F250's, 2 Explorers, 2 Tuarus SHO's, and a Mustang GT......

Only problem I ever had was that stupid push button 4x4 system they had on the early Explorers......you'd get in 4x4 and couldn't get back out.......not good !!

Don't know where that found on road dead came from but none of mine ever let me down.....I take care of my stuff and wrench all my own..

From the same idiots who drive around in a vehicle with that decal of the little boy pissing on one of the other brands. . .True intelligence there.
After I had my 96 F250 for about 70k, I was running at freeway speed, (whatever it was here back then,) and heard a strange whine coming from the RF area. (This was back when my ears still worked, more or less. . .) Anyway, to cut to the chase here, turned out the automatic locking hub on the right, decided it wanted to go into lock mode, even though it was not supposed to. When I found out how much it was to repair/replace it, I checked on what it would cost to put in manual hubs. The cost for that was less than fixing the automatic hub, and I figured that if the right one had gone out, the left one couldn't be far behind it. So I went ahead and had manual lockers put on. Worked fine ever since.
One of my kids had that stupid dash button on one of his rigs. Gave him a lot of grief until he unloaded it.

Dodge 4wd has a habit of death wobble. They don't all do it by any means but when you have it it's kinda tough to get rid of.
My '03 has nearly 450k on it.The engine is getting a bit loose. Oil pressure isn't all it could be.

    Was 4 day.
Down to South Houston to get a pallet. Lone Star Blower to Holley Industrial Balancing. 1plt 250#.
Then up to just west of I-45 and just south of 8.
    1plt 824# Argo to Kuenhe & Angel.
Then BACK down to Holley Industrial Balancing to go back to Lone Star Blower.
Then down to Pearland for three drums of Mineral Spirits going to Science Lab up by the airport.
On the way home I stopped at Tractor Supply. Was about to get 30w oil and spotted 40w . Just what the doctor ordered!
Also got a quart of Diesel Kleen and put half in my fuel tank on the off chance it'll stop my injector leak.
Tomorrow I'll grab front brake pads and an oil filter to do the work on Saturday.

    Vilhiem Thanks this.

Dodges four-wheel-drive option was bad enough to warrant a couple complaints with the Better Business Bureau, as well as several sites which just generally compare the reliability of cars. To top it all off, of the complaints I saw for each manufacturer and model, the complaint about the 4 x 4 was not only the most prevalent, but also the most unsolved.
