I'm not sure about the Shepherd slab savers.
I think they are still.based out of that building.
There is a sign that says Future Truck Stop on the fence.
And it's a pretty safe bet that when 59 flies over where Champion Truck Stop was it will be a TA or some such.
Where Are You Continues, Again.....

I think the highway work will have to be completed before they even begin to work on that property.

Salina, KS bored, lonely even, perhaps. The polisher guy comes by "machine polish?" ummm, ummm, ok sure why not. On the way over there I'm thinking HAH what am I thinking, shiny aluminum on a faded truck. Is like putting a chandelier in a haunted mansion.
Rocks and chopper103in Thank this. -
Why is that?
I stay out for 3 to 4 months at a time but don't feel burnt out... But I get at least 4 hrs sleep every 24 hrs...
I could stay out for longer if didn't need to check out my mail box...
Taking one week hometime next week for doctor's appt, check mail box and a few other things... Then, back on the road for 3 or 4 more weeks... if no doctor's appt...
Ohhh... BTW, I'm at FJ in IL... will deliver tomorrow about 1.2 miles from here and then deadhead to hometime location... about 445 miles from here...chopper103in Thanks this. -
Just as last week's check was a nice surprise this week's check was a nasty surprise.
Went to the corner of 610 and McCarty for an envelope going to Greens Rd. Near the airport. Then went back to the same place to get another envelope with the CORRECT stuff inside and went back to Greens Rd.
Then went out 90 alt. to darn near the San Jacinto river to get a crimper I left there last week and took it to J&T Tool. Got a Milwaukee Battery powered Saws all to take back out to the river but they leave that place at 2pm.
Visited a Pawn Shop and MAY have gotten the deal of the century. An Aviator watch for $50 plus tax.
The Lady at the watch kiosk in Deerbrook mall says it's a $2000 watch with Swiss movement. I say even if only a $200 watch I got a great deal.
A while ago Miguel texted me to pick up 8am at Clinton dr. 4 gallons two for Pasadena and two for Texas City.
Hopefully I can get to the river place by 2pm. Should be easy but 45 South is totally unpredictable!chopper103in Thanks this. -
Oh jolly. Today a U-joint reared it's ugly head.
Had a 5 day even so. The last one put me at the customer at 5:25 but being it was a garbage place there were people around to unload me. Roland ok'd my text of I'll be working on my truck in the morning.
I am thinking now that what I thought was the wheel bearing squeak was actually the first of the U-joint squeak. Because I can't see it going this bad that quickly. Anyhow bought two U-joints and a quart of rear end juice and will attack the problem in the morning.chopper103in Thanks this. -
Oh jolly again. It was the carrier bearing which had come loose from it's frame.
Got one for 21 bucks difference from taking the U-Joints back.
Had old billy h*** changing it out!
Dispatcher would like me to be at at a location off 290 at 8am.
I'm going to leave home at 7. Somebody is going to have hurt feelings.chopper103in Thanks this. -
I tried O'Reilly and a general internet search.
O'Reilly wants me to bring the seal in and match it.
Nobody online shows the driveshaft seal.
The spring in the seal got goofy and wouldn't let the shaft in.
Without the spring the truck is making a bigger mess and going through a lot of transmission fluid.
If the check is slightly better than pin money I'm going to drive a dealer parts guy nuts. -
The check was slightly better than pin money. But not enough to make a great difference.
Today I had a leftover pallet to get rid of.
Then to one of the usual haunts down by Hobby to find out they shipped yesterday and he forgot to cancel.
Then I went out by the San Jacinto river to get the stuff I left out there yesterday as the job got called off.
Then to another usual haunt in Channelview for two drums. The drums went to a place on Washington Ave.
Then the other stuff about a mile to get rid of.
Then two pickups in Pasadena. One went to Tomball.
I sent I'd go straight to the other place (which I thought was in Baytown ) he sent back he was under the belief it had to be delivered today. Left Tomball at 4:35 and it took until 6pm to get to Liberty, TX to deliver.
As of right now, not under load and no known place to be in the morning.chopper103in Thanks this.
