So.... I hope I NEVER go back to these customers... They both belong to same co.
Had called office lady for the first delivery to get directions... and after checking on Google satellite and street view, I realized the docks were on another street and what she gave me was for personal vehicles only... entrance gate even had low clearance bar...and she did so even knowing I was coming with a semi... WTF... Called her today just to set her right...
Then, when I arrived at warehouse, gentleman told me to go next door.... but next door was behind fenced area with locked gate and nobody around... DARN!
That place was small... all their trucks are day cabs.... Had to go to the middle of two way street to back to the dock... But not too bad...
The second location was MUCH WORSE...
Another MUCH SMALLER place, no parking, dock behind a store in an alley of some sort... Had to go to middle of 4 way intersection to park next to dock and walk around to figure how to put trailer in their "receiving hole"... that's how they call their receiving dock...
That's where I parked when I arrive here this evening...
the dock does look like a hole... the ground drops and it's dark and very tight with metal curb on passenger side and concrete curb on the other...
And metal columns on the passenger side...
Will try to take a picture of front during daylight tomorrow... Very little room in front...took about 40 mins to put trailer in that dock... and got out of truck about 20 or so times to look with flash light cause it was too dark...
Tomorrow will pull all the way up to open the doors and will have to secure the trailer door on passenger side really tight so it doesn't rub on those metal columns...
Can't wait to leave this place... with no scratches...

I have been LEARNING SO MUCH in this co. now... Had it SOOOO EASY in the Walmart account with my former co. But thanks to these challenges, I am becoming a better driver...

And I got so happy yesterday when I was able to help two drivers to back to dock at receiver...
peterbilt_2005 and ironpony Thank this. -
have I said that I don't like this time change yet?

McEwen, Tn tonight , the first of 3 stops
Rocks Thanks this. -
You get 'em Rocks! The closest story I have anything like that.....
I arrived at a customer in Jersey around 5:30 local. Another driver said there were docks behind the building and I could park back there for my 10. In the morning I discovered I was not in the right dock. I had to move to a dock that is no more than 30 feet from a street with a building across the street. I had to Jackknife the trailer to the dock. It was a fairly busy street and there wasn't even walk room between my cab and the building.
At least the fork lift driver hustled and got me out of there in about an hour.
Nothing like that in Hot Shot. The waiting time can be right up there though!Rocks Thanks this. -

See if you can smuggle me out a nice one in the 19 ft range. Color isn't a big deal but I like red be black
Tall Mike Thanks this. -
Was unloaded at 6:30 am today... still had to slide my tandems all the way back so that rear tires could go up on the ramps... And after opening doors, had to tie it up really tight with trailer so it would not rub against yellow metal columns...
And this is the "receiving hole"...
And this was the room in front...
I know, I know.... some of you, experienced professional drivers may be thinking.... Ooohh... COME ON.... that's not THAT hard...
But for me... I am still not a good backer.... it was a freaking PAIN.... specially doing it in the dark at night....
Moving foot by foot and going out every time with a flash light to take a look...
Thank GOD I got out of there with no scratch and no damages...
And now I am at very small independent truck stop 4 miles away, on a dirt lot waiting for next load assignment... I am the only truck here....Last edited: Nov 5, 2014

Ohh... by the way... I don't think this is a truck stop... but it has some room for trucks to park... but so far, I'm still the only one here... They close at night... maybe trucks come then... maybe not cause the exit is closed for construction...
Ohh... and by the way, this is AL....Last edited: Nov 5, 2014
