I have never been in that port... so I have no idea what it looks like when it's open or what the difference is.... but also I don't know why you would go thru the port... anyway... sorry my questions... I am curious that way... just my way of making conversation.... but you may leave it alone if you don't want to bother answering...

And I have been in a port... or some ports before... not really a place I like to go to with a big truck... but I was there to pick up loads... and left as soon as I was loaded...

There is no profit incentive for them to provide free parking for OTR drivers...

My bet is that they are making more per month off what those locals purchase than they will make off the occasional OTR folks when they spend a 10 hour break or reset there.

There is not much (if any) profit in truck parking unless the lot serves a major community. Then you would need to pay to park....

Yeah... that is a reasonable explanation... it makes some sense... and I thought that too... maybe the local folks that drop their trailers and leave their trucks here for the weekend, also buy fuel here and spend more money here than out of the town drivers...

I think he may be talking about the "port of entry" scale house on the NM side of the border. Us60 and US84 run through the town right on the Texas- New Mexico border.
