Hey... now I am going to post here about what happened last Wednesday... I did post a lot on the other thread but you folks may not have read that so I'm posting that here too...

I was invited to participate in an Annual Banquet that my company offers to honor the 6 safest drivers of the previous year... It's called the Annual Fleet Safety Award Banquet... They made reservations for us in a nice hotel where they have the banquet...
This was the main lobby of the hotel...



Nice view from the elevator...



My suite... on the 6th floor...



Quite comfortable... but I didn't get much time to spend in there....



No time to soak in the bath tub either...



Nice veranda next to the bedroom and view of the front parking lot...





They had iron and an ironing board that I used to iron my clothes...



Quite comfortable... slept there for a few hrs after the banquet...



There was also a gym room and a small swimming pool that I didn't have time to use...



Took a shower, dressed nicely, put some lipstick on and went down to the main lobby again...



At the banquet... there was the president of the corporate company that owns my company, several CEO's of that company and my company, also CEO from the insurance company and other higher management people + dispatchers, mechanics, the 6 drivers, etc...


There were presentations, speeches, videos...



They talked and displayed their Safety awards from previous years and explained their award criteria and evaluation process to select the drivers...



My company used to call drivers to their office and give them prizes and money for their achievements but since 2012 that they have been giving this banquet.... It's a BIG thing for them...

I had a vegetarian dish... pasta and veggies..



After the speeches and videos they started calling the names of the drivers... one at a time would go to the front, receive the award, shake hands with our CEO and have a picture taken and folks applauded...
They called me three times...

First time was an award for Most Miles Driven Safely in 2017... My DSP told me I drove 133,000 miles last year... which in my opinion is not that much... I know I have driven 140,000 some other year ago... can't remember when though...

The second time they called me, was for Best Fuel Economy in 2017 in a 10 speed truck... I was surprised... My company has some of the BEST drivers in this country... most have 30+ and 40 yrs experience... and I almost never use cruse control... which my company says, it saves fuel... Well... I also know that the weight of the load, the terrain, the weather, etc, contribute for the fuel economy...

Anyway... the third time they called me was for the Driver of the Year 2017...

I was in SHOCK... Never expected that... not in my company...

Here are the prizes I got...



The jackets are SUPER nice... and the bag too... and for each prize I also got an envelope with a check... haven't opened them yet...



At the end, all the CEO's and presidents and other folks came to shake my hand and congratulate me... I must say that I enjoyed that....
Then, we had a pictures session... all the drivers, me alone, everybody, dispatchers, mechanics, this that and the other...
And after all that, we went to the hotel bar for some socializing and relaxing time...



I didn't drink anything... that was someone's else...

And back in my company... they insisted in placing stickers on both sides of my doors.... which I don't like at all.... and asked them to skip that but they gotta have it...
Maybe if I ask them very nicely next time, they will remove it... who knows...



And they said will put a sign with my name on the front gate... Yeah... like I want that... NOT!

 

LOL... if it were for me, we would get rid of the HOS... just kidding...

 

Got a load north of Tulsa last Thursday and now parked at a truck stop in ID...



...will deliver on Monday about 4 miles from here... then, will reload somewhere else in ID and will go to WI....

 

Have seen beautiful days on the road...


Thankfully no snow or ice....


Hopefully will not see any more till next winter... shall see...
