So hold your head up high if your poor and righteous
I know time seems right and the problems seem endless
But at times of despair we gotta pull ourselves together
And if you fell you're out the game then you need to get back in it
'Cos nothing worse than a quitter
You gotta face responsibility one day, my brother
So gather up your pity and turn it to ambition
And put your vehicle and drive and stop by my side

I'll see you when you get there
    If you ever get there
See you when you get there.

HMMM--I've said it many times b4 If you understand me please explain it to ME---one thing I do KNOW for certain--this job would be MUCH better--if it wasn't for other Truck Drivers..........Frankly been truly livin up to my cantankerous moniker lately--maybe it is just me--but the BS--is really gettin to me lately--just too much/many examples in last couple of days to go into-(and I do UNDERSTAND that so much has changed over the years)-so just suffice to say--if you see someone in a truck that YOU would only dream of driving--doing something that you would NEVER dream of attempting--and said driver--does it w/out even breaking a sweat--(in about 1 tenth the time it took YOU to do YOUR so called proper way)--there just MIGHT be a very logical reason for it......and if I (unlike the generation b4 me)didn't say a WORD to you about how completely absurd it is to turn a truck around the way YOU just did---WHAT on earth makes you think--I have any desire to even talk to you let alone listen to YOUR unsolicited opinion?
    Sorry for the rant..........
On another note--PETE--back to the CRACKER comment--your very close--it actually pre-dates rural farmers--it grew out of the Spanish(who were the first Europeans)when they came to Fl--along with the first cattle herds--They herded on foot w/whips---and the LEADER was Known as the Cracker--was an honored position.....and every once in a while I get a kick out of it when someone brings it up in a derogatory way--and tell them THANX--
Course it is like anything else--ignorance is Bliss--and opinions are like--well you know..........

'olhand, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that detests that move. Makes me want to illustrate the hardness of my tiedown bar.

    Translation for Zen and Pete:

Gave the new truck to the new driver, left Sioux Falls and came home. I am now fixin' to be headin' south at the maximum " Stay out of jail" speed in my orange truck, don't tell the bears I'm coming!

    And I'm glad ya didn't call Truckon a carhauler, he's just a wannabe! :biggrin_2559:

Oh brother....life gets tough doesn't it?! And you will need to check the time all by yourself.

Interesting little tidbit we have discovered (we being our safety/recruiter George and myself)...

Took a new hire out for his road test on Tuesday, he drove for Covenant and TWT, and it showed, a bit heavy on the right foot pedal (throttle), excessive clearance on turns, backing(?)...well let's see, good thing the dock we used was WIDE OPEN...not once did he look to check the right side! Oh yes, that was discussed then practiced for 7 more "put it in the dock again" game. I'm sure I got my point across!!!!!

Anyway...I digress back to my original point...LOGS! We get back to the Sac terminal and George tells me I need to teach this youngster how to LOG ON A PAPER LOG...he has never used a paper log!!!!! I guess this is the new era of trucking...everything is electronic!

Roadmedic, teddy_bear6506 and ironpony Thank this.
