Everything I haul is ran on tight appointment times, being on time keeps our customers happy...they don't care what your logbook looks like.

I won't hold my breath on mandatory Elogs on all highway trucks....that's years away and I work for a very small company. The day it does come I'll jump in one of our local rides and enjoy time w/ my wife & dogs.

A little insight into what we do...we service small dairies with liquid sugar, we pump our own product and we sample that same product, we also check tank levels and switch valves to certain tanks. We have had larger companies try to take our freight and fail miserably...they stick different hands on loads each time, product gets put into wrong tanks etc...to offer quality service to these customers you need to learn their procedures and that's where a smaller company is advantageous.

Elog wouldn't hurt me too bad. But I do not log from Home to wherever I start my day or from wherever I end a day to home. I went Post Trip at 16:45 but didn't finish out the log until almost home. But at very worst it isn't more than 1.5 hours from duty change.

By the way after dropping near Hwy 90 and CE King Pkwy I stopped at a store to use the bathroom and then sent empty. At 16:15 He sent hang around and I'll get you something. By 17:00 nothing. And I'd STILL be waiting if I didn't know better!

I'm not trying to argue with anyone here either. The usual crowd here can probably agree to the same basic idea of Fair Pay for Services Rendered. The particular methods are where the disagreements would start to intrude, correct ? I ran across this article tonight that seems to sum it up in another land. the same sets of problems as we face here in the U.S, basically. Except note that the Legal Hours of Service in Germany. 48 hours !!! And no Driving on weekends !! We can just dream that we could be treated so cushy here ! http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-08-29/germany-wants-more-truck-drivers

Precisely. We are out here to perform a service to the customer (big, medium or tiny carrier)... each carrier presents different pluses or minuses to the customer. Don't give a hoot about what shows up, just haul it and haul it cheaply? Mega. Pay a bit more and get better service? Mid. Service is paramount, cost is part of the deal? Tiny... ask for Logan!

Ah, but the real question is, will you still respect me in the morning??? :biggrin_25523:

Not surprising. Labor laws in Germany provide some of the most labor-friendly work rules in the world. Vacation? August. :biggrin_25519:

another reason to love west Memphis
[h=2]Avoid buying in these 5 dangerous cities[/h][h=3][/h][h=3]4. West Memphis, Ark.[/h]Located across the Mississippi River from Memphis, West Memphis suffers from violent-crime rate more than six times the U.S. average.
That includes a rape rate 5.3 times the national average, as well as a level of murders three times higher than you'd expect given the city's population of 26,000.
West Memphis also suffers from an aggravated-assault rate 7.3 times higher than average, as well as 3.9 times the typical number of robberies on a per-capita basis.
Add the fact that West Memphis has more than three times the average rate of property crimes and you've got about a 1-in-8 chance of becoming a victim there in any given year.
Schiller attributes some of West Memphis' problems to a spillover of crime from Memphis itself, which NeighborhoodScout ranks as America's 22nd-most-dangerous city.

I'd have guessed near my father's age or so, and I don't consider my father old, so no. Not a fossil.
