Which way you going to go from Rancho to get over to Shafter? You have two choices...210 back over Grapevine or out the 15 take the exit just after the scale and over Tehachapi. Check the traffic situations (AM 640, KFI) before deciding.

 

well Rancho is Monday afternoon
Shafter is 1030 next morning
so I can avoid traffic and there are TS's in Bakersfield it says in my little pocket book

Since you have so much time to get to Shafter. After Rancho, go ahead on the 210 and 5 over Grapevine (watch your speed, they are really tightening up in the control sections)...and overnight at either T/A or Petro bottom of the Vine....only 30 minutes to Shafter from those T/S. Much better than Bakersfield choices!!!

 

I'm home of course. TB I REALLY hope they get you fixed up proper!
All these truck stop stories. I only got to CA twice. Barely got above the 10 first time. And down near the border second time. Never got any farther west than WI. Or North above AZ.

And every time I hear of stuff like Rocks is going through I'm awful glad I sleep in my own bed every night.

But I live vicariously through you people!

I hope they do too, Dave. Thank you. Got a lot of things going through my mind right now. For right now I'm trying to take it one step at a time, and look forward to getting the epidural and see if it helps any at all. I'm putting my cane away except for around the house and using my walker for more stability. I'm feeling a little more at ease with it for now.

 

Well... after soooooo many years of traveling around, in the US and in Brasil, staying in all kinds of hotels, motels, hostels, etc, etc... this was the first time that I got soooo many bug bites... Bought Witch Hazel and washed myself with that. It relieves the itching for a while... I hope it doesn't take more than a week for most of it to go away... Shall see...
