Where Are You....continues........

FML........got to my first stop and went to put the lift gate out and blew a hyd hose. it was either drive back to Scottsville and get it fixed or wait on breakdown...my choice so im waiting for breakdown........either way it would be 2-2 1/2 hours, might as well sit and save fuel

 

I sat at the truck stop for a bit and then went and grabbed a10# Hazmat carton at Murphy for Air France.
Sat near Air France for a bit and went to SDV for Something going to DGM. Never got that but did get 3 Hazmat crates another of our drivers couldn't take to Cargolux.
Went under a tree outside SDV and ate lunch. Then went in and waited 45 minutes to NOT get it again.
Went to near the corner of Clinton and Wayside for a 1296# pallet going to Pearland.
Was at the corner of I-10 and Lockwood when he called and said get a piece at SDV going to Emirates. Delivered that and no further communication.

So got home 6:40.

 

Ohhh.... Not a good start... Hope you got it fixed and had a good day...

Me... did everything that I had on my list for this "hometime" + a little more... Will sleep in my hotel room for the last time tonight before I go back on the road. Will pick up a load tomorrow about 15 miles from where the truck is parked and will take it to IL... Delivery will be on Monday and receiver allows me to park there Sunday evening... DSP told me that after delivery on Monday, I will drop empty trailer at another customer and bobtail to co. warehouse in IN...
Gotta go now... will get up early tomorrow... Good nite you all...

 

Home from work, sitting on my porch drinking a cold rum and coke. So far so good this week, hauled 37 loads in the last 4 days. If it keeps busy for the next 3 days it will be a good week for $. July was a slow month , long days but lots of waiting and delay time so not a lot of loads hauled. Apparently it's traditionally the slowest month of the year so should pick up again soon.
The days are getting noticeably shorter here now, suns now rising at 530am and setting a bit before 930pm. A good hour less on each end than a month ago. Will be getting my work gear ready for the winter soon, this year I've got a good idea of what I will need to stay comfortable and warm while outside working in the cold.

 

Cold rum and Coke... In Brasil they call that "Cuba Libre"... and they add some lime to it too... When I was a teenager, had one of my worst alcoholic experiences with that... Had that and then beer... Then, went to a beach with a friend and once I laid down on the sand... Ohhhhh.... I vomited for about one hr... My friend dragged me to the water afterwards to "wake me up"... It was awful... never did that again...

So, Kw9's... you seem satisfied with your job... That's good man...

Me... I am glad to be back on the road... was getting anxious and bored in the hotel after I finished all that I had planned to do there...

Got my load this morning and now I am at a big rest area in IL... Will have a little more than 2 hrs to drive to the receiver tomorrow. But delivery will be on Monday... So, will not have to rush... Will fuel and shower at a Pilot about one mile from receiver and then will park at receiver overnight...

 

Nice Rocks! Life is airways better when we don't have to run around like chickens with our heads cut off. I am of course home. And not really looking forward to Monday.

 

I tell you Dave, I am sooo used to running around like a chicken with the head cut off that I feel awkward and bored when I have time to relax... I don't know what to do with it... I mean, if I were near the beach.... oohhhh YEAH! I would soak in the water all day... play in the water, swim.... Ohhh... I miss the beach man...

So... today I did a 4.5 mile power walk from this Pilot to receiver and then to Walmart nearby and back to Pilot...



Did my paperwork, cooked, took a shower, this and that... Was going to park at receiver this evening... it's only one mile from here... and very quiet place... My appt. is 9 am tomorrow but they arrive at 6 am and might be able to unload me early.... BUT stupid me, didn't ask dsp on Friday where I will be dropping this trailer after that... And she arrives only at 8 am...
So.... to avoid wasting time... Will stay right here overnight... And will call receiver tomorrow at 7 am... Will leave here only if they say they can unload me right away...

I HATE when I make these stupid mistakes...

 

It could be worse Rocks. I don't know how in your world. But I'm sure it could be worse.
I really am NOT looking forward to tomorrow...
