In my latter days with PAM I often had 3 or 4 days to do 300-400 miles. Just another reason why I should have quit before they canned me!

OH! Rolled in about 21:40. I spent nearly an hour and forty five minutes at United Cargo starting at 17:47. Then as I was completing my paperwork my buddy Clive showed up. NICE guy but it's TOUGH to get away from him!
Anyhow a total of 11 delivery tickets today, with total highest weight about 1600#
No unreasonable BS except perhaps United cargo.
I HATE the fact I'm sitting still tomorrow. But if Friday is good it should be a fair week. -
Hauled 2 loads of Buildex from Marquette to Hope (Elmo), KS, KDOT mixing strip. While enroute with the first load an ambulance comes screaming passed me. I'm on K4, a narrow shoulder-less highway. The mixing strip is located at the intersection of K4 & K15 hwy. I suddenly had a gut feeling that right before I get to where I need to go, there's an accident, blocking the road and I will have to wait forever. Well I was almost dead on. I mentioned the mixing strip location, it's on the NE corner. Approaching the intersection I see disco lights everywhere. A grain buggy and a pickup truck collided. The grain buggy is (luckily) in the westbound lane of K4, on the west side of the intersection, the pickup in a private drive. It was a tight squeeze with all the emergency vehicles, but managed to squeeze by.
Second load to that place, the grain buggy still there, now accompanied by a second grain buggy which is off-loading the first. Still can get through, but a little tighter yet. However before I can, a bull-wagon traveling NB on K15 wants to make a left turn onto K4. With the 2 grain buggies taking up the WB lane, on the west side of the intersection, it's one of those near impossible turns. Well I sit and watch while the bull-wagon almost puts his trailer in the ditch. He was empty, however if he was loaded it would have laid down, and really P'd me off.
Next I had to run to St. Mary's and load Gypsum and haul it to Hillsboro. Where we load the gypsum the ground is a little spongy so I kick the power-divider in, and then shut it off once back onto the blacktop. Well after running about 70 miles in I-70 (from K99 to U-77), the power-divider must not have disengaged. About 8 miles south of I70 I notice my rear axle temp warning comes on, the temp about 275 degs. I pull over and start investigating. I call the shop manager, then finally the boss. They think it's just something with the computer and told me to go ahead and drive. I at least got my 30 min break in due to that. It finally cools back down to normal after I dump in Hillsboro, and load in Lyons. I think it also finally disengaged. I did stop several times before getting to Hillsboro to let it cool. My log book looked like a heart monitor for someone in V-fib. I reached the yard with only 30 mins to spare.
Off today for the holiday, will be heading back to KCMO in the morning. Hope everyone has a good Independence Day, and the same number of fingers, hands, feet and toes on Friday that they started out today with..teddy_bear6506 Thanks this. -

At home (Like what else would y'all expect?)
Been watching stuff on Youtube for hours. Started checking my 3 main websites because in certainly no more than an hour I'll be in bed.
I suspect Friday could be even crazier than most Fridays..... -
@ Home. Got in last night. Had a real nice time having my girl in the truck this past week with me. Tonight I've got the beers cold and the BBQ hot! Steaks are going on the grill soon and the beers are going down just nicely!
My balcony garden is going great, the basil is growing fast and the banana pepper plant has one big pepper allready and 6 more starting to grow.
Got my truck serviced today and all ready to get out on the road next available load from tommorow.'olhand Thanks this. -
Gonna be turning in soon. My plan is to be asleep before the noise gets started. Gotta be ready for 0230

Back at house--played trailer jockey all day with that BOSS--and spotted a bunch of local wagons at customers--since Friday's are always HEAVY p/u days and with almost everyone close today--tommorrow gonna be a zoo---LOL
Got done bout 7--jumped on bike--met my better half at a friends--who just happens to live high enuff above town--so we could sit on the deck by the pool and watch the fireworx at the fairgrounds--then a nice 15 mile ride home over the mountain--and for the first time in what seems like forever-didnt dodge one Bambi(or any other big critter)all the way to the house
Probably should buy a lottery ticket!

So, delivered to WallyWorld DC in Pauls Valley OK last night, with a preplan picking up in Elk City OK later on. Got reefer fuel? Check! Got washout? Check! Head to Elk City. I get there, and get told that I'm in for a long wait, as in days. The shipper's inventory database is corrupted, and their having to inventory the entire plant before they can start loading. It's been two days (when I arrived last night) with 30 or 40 trucks sittin' and waitin'... and looking very unhappy.
End of my day anyway... hit the sack.
This morning, sales calls, and asks if I want outta there. Ummm... you have to ask?!!!
Some other guy is late for his pickup on one of the two loaded trailers left in the place, so yeah, I grab it. (Bet he's royally hacked-off tonight!) The deal is they engineer a swap, and I'm onto something else. Started for Russellville AR, but that got switched to Joplin. Did the swap, and I'm off to some podunk burg in SW Missouri in the morning. Instead of going to Portland, I'm headed to Grandview WA. Lighter load, more money.
Deal!Hammer166, teddy_bear6506 and Cranky Yankee Thank this. -
