I did 6 deliveries today. Rolled in 18:45
A tiny little look into the rocket science my Dispatcher is. I had a little over 4K on a mostly full trailer. I was just about to send empty from where I was. DING pick up SDV deliver Air France cutoff 4. This was at 4:13. So at 4:15 I sent empty and called. I said I still have a full trailer and wasn't planning on going back to SDV right now for 31#. He says I will try to reschedule to the morning.... Whoops! I missed where it says 7-9 on the card make it your first run in the morning. Then when I went to Cargolux I had lumber on the trailer for Cargo Air Service which Cargolux is a part of. I had a ticket that said CAS and nothing else. It could have been 1 of 10 or more CAS. But Cargolux said they would take it.
I got a call on the way home. Jeff is at CAS and doesn't see the lumber. I explained what I had already texted to his phone. That I had dropped it at Cargolux because I had no idea where it was supposed to go. So he said ok... Click.

I should have bought a lottery ticket today. Delivered salt to KCMO, then headed to Ottawa Quarry to load rock for Great Bend. Well a couple of our drivers told me that DOT was setup in the Ottawa rest area, I-35 mm 174 SB. Well I could have loaded up to 85.5k and just took all the state highways, but that was a lot of additional miles. So I opted for an interstate legal load, 80k, then headed south on the big road. Sure enough signs up saying Truck Check, and directing you into the rest area.
There's a DOT worker holding the stop/slow sign, and waives me up to him. I stop, noticing they're busy and no where to stop without blocking the entrance for cars. He tells me, "I'm not going to make you wait. Just go through the drive that the cars use and go". I said thank you, and followed his instructions, grabbing gears as soon as I hit the ramp. WHEW!!! Was I lucky or what?
I'm loaded with more salt for KCMO, will be heading that way tomorrow morning, as soon as the shop gets the oil changed in my truck.Rocks and teddy_bear6506 Thank this.
