Last Friday NB US 287 near Wichita Falls TX. When I passed this guy here’s what I observed. All 4 of his windows down. My temp gauge was reading 114 and as long as Im moving it’s pretty accurate. So it’s seriously hot. My A/C was blownin and agoin. The engine of that fire wagon was sitting literally in the backseat behind this guy and LOUD...it was so loud it was loud in my truck. He’s wearing what looked like noise canceling headphones. Could only imagine how miserable this had to be, all to carry 2 units.

As a side note they will never really replace that pavement down that way will they? It seems all they do is oil the cracks.

Maybe he will upgrade to a 12 car “fire truck” in the future. I drove many a year without AC or power steering but I won’t do it anymore.

I bet you didnt do it with your engine exposed with NO protection from the noise and the heat it produces sitting in the back seat. This guy’s deal was over the top.

I drove fire trucks for almost 20 years. I didn’t have hearing loss at 30 for no reason. We were forbidden from wearing hearing protection for many years because they were afraid we wouldn’t hear another emergency vehicle coming thru the intersection from a different direction. This one actually had a muffler, but the one I drove before it was straight pipes on a early 70’s Detroit in an American Lafrance. You could hear the engine from a further distance than you could hear the Federal “Q” siren. I lived about 3 blocks from the fire station and on my days off I could hear them pull out of the station at night before they ever hit the siren.
