In bristol VA, 42, clear mvr, no record, all endorsements and twic.
Ended up working for a terrible mega after looking for 2 months just to keep my CDL relevant. OTR, and I kinda like it, but the pay is absolutely bottom barrel, even for a newbie. 1050 gross with 69 hours, disgusting.
Aside from that, dryvan was never in my sights until I started worrying about my CDL not getting exp in.
Tried Barger transport near me, no reply. No call back from voice mails.
Same with greenfield oil and Eagle.
After…5 months looking, cannot seem to get my foot into any tanker hazmat, with final goal in cyro.
So I figured maybe its time to ask for some help!?
Lol. Regional or local would be nice but Id take even otr tanker at this point. And I HATE Wv and PA lanes too but Id even look at them at this point
Feel like Im wasting my time in dryvan with truck speeds at low 60s max :/
Where to find tanker work? Calling the pros

I’ve heard rack talk about the poor performing drivers being encouraged to find alternative employment to lessen the head counts, but cannot confirm or deny the truth of that.
Things aren’t as busy as they normally are this time of year.
Last year, we were consistently asked to work a 6th day whenever possible and incentives were offered to make it very worthwhile.
Think an extra 100-500 just to show up and run a couple loads, and we were still struggling to stay ahead of things.
This year, I’ve seen mid week delays because everything is full.
I’m seeing lots of split loads and multi flavor loads going to stores that are generally higher volume, and usually get full loads of single products.
The demand just isn’t there at the moment.
Folks aren’t driving as much.
Traffic isn’t as thick before noon the way it was last year.
Evening traffic is similar, but still not nearly as heavy.
I’m also seeing more of those electric cars, and the tiny wind up type super fuel efficient cars that look like a bubble on wheels.
Super small, lightweight, tiny motor that sips fuel, but can’t climb a hill to save its life.
The opportunities are out there, but you really gotta hunt for them, and if there’s ANY dirt in your background, you’re gonna have a hard time getting in the tanker game.
With so few open seats and many people looking to get into it, companies can be very selective on who they make offers to. -
Pilot fuel hauling? They were always looking for drivers everywhere. Pay just under six figures.

Good luck, I live in work in Wisconsin and it seems nearly impossible to get tanker work where I'm at right now. Kwik Trip is about the only place that might consider hiring you but I have heard that they are a pain in the butt to work with. Have you considered just doing something else like reefer work? I can think of an abundance of different reefer companies that are always hiring and they have no shortage of freight whatsoever.
Zonno Thanks this. -
There was a time when some cryo or fuel companies would bring you on. However alot has changed in the last 18 months.
I would recommend getting on with a LTL company. Then roll that experience over to a fuel or tanker company.
Have you tried any milk tanker companies in your area?OrangeBox Thanks this. -

Flat Earth Trucker and Crude Truckin' Thank this. -
I’d look at Pilot/Flying J or Gemini(Love’s). Search all the cryo companies, like Air Products, US Cryo, LGT Transport, Praxair, KAG, Linde, and all the rest of the usual suspects. I think, you’re just not searching it in the right way or something. There are a ton of jobs out there. Even if you can only get an application on file, it eventually could lead to something.

Hey can you guys help another rookie out lol Looking anything "tanker!" Non Hazmat would be great too as apparently there is hold up on the background checks for 60 days. My location is Orlando, FL but I'm Flexible. For example Tampa is cool too or Lakeland! But anything Tanker Hazmat or Non Hazmat that will take newbies I'm all ears. I want to start out in the field I prefer so it doesn't look like I'm hoping around. And if not what are some local normal jobs that will take you in this area new for Tractor Experience? Thanks a bunch!
Zonno Thanks this.
